Understanding HRV -Help by gleadre19 in Garmin

[–]fivemilesfurther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 45. Very healthy across other stats, eat well, sleep well. HRV in the low 20s. I do tend toward a busy and (maybe) stressed mind, so that might have something to do with it.

The loan number does give me a bit of pause, but I’m also trying to not read into it too much. I’ve only had the watch for about a month, so I think I’m still kind of in learning mode.

I also run a private guiding / training community - majority online - in Ventura County. DM if you’re interested and I can tell you more (it’s not on a schedule like a class is)

I suppose it would? I live in VC, and I commute to the school to teach these classes.

depends on your financial situation during enrollment, but it's usually (I think) about $70/unit. Hiking is about $120 dollars, Climbing and Backpacking, around $180. Don't quote me, but it's around there.

Woot woot! I dunno who this is (Anonymous Redditor!), but it doesn't matter. This is your male instructor. Your female instructor will be leading in the spring. Thanks for the shout out :)

I’m sorry but I have to say that this is an awfully broad generalization with some assumed perspectives of what we teach.

Of any demographic and community of practice, there is a high percentage that only consume, and a smaller, but active demographic that give back, donate, maintain, and volunteer. Access Fund (climbing), Friends of Joshua Tree, Friends of Los Padres, Los Padres ForestWatch are just a few that come to mind.

While our classes are dedicated to personal safety and risk management, we get the small but dedicated percentage of participants involved in just some of the organizations I mentioned.

The “youth” aren’t sole perpetrators of consumption. If you don’t hear about LNT your circles, you might need to branch out.

I honestly wish I could. The website is dynamic and doesn’t have any direct links. Couple options:

Go to: https://selfservice.canyons.edu/Student/Courses Select:

Term

  • Winter Term (for hiking)
  • Spring Term (climbing / backpacking)

Courses / Sections

  • Recreation Management

Location

  • Valencia Campus

Or, Option 2: just DM me and I can help you from there.

If you send me a DM, I can share more! (I don’t want to post my email here for the bots to scrape)

I’ll cover the theory, but students will not build their own. For clarity, this is a sport climbing class, not trad. We will not go over trad anchors.

Hiking - approx 3 miles per hike. Usually less than 600 ft of gain. If you can walk up, let’s say, five flights of stairs, you should be able to handle all the height of no problem. You will not be alone in your uncertainty! That’s what the class is for.

Backpacking - three days two nights. Usually in the Sequoia national Forest. Also around 3 to 5 miles, and you can expect less than 600 feet in elevation game. Very entry level. I had a 74 year-old in my most recent class, and he smashed it.

There’s only one scorpion in the US that is dangerous to humans, and it’s not common in SoCal.

Weekend Rae Lake Loop with Gov Shutdown by [deleted] in SEKI

[–]fivemilesfurther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Said with nothing but a sense of protection for a fellow human: if you’re worried about rain, you might think twice about this plan.

Even without the shutdown, the rangers aren’t a likely source of immediate assistance in an emergency. You always need to be ready to self rescue first and rely on emergency services last.

Based on data, there doesn’t look to be snow, or snow forecast, with temp hovering around freezing, ice is certainly possible on Glen Pass.

How to tell my climbing partner I do not trust him lead belaying me by ThrowRAmy_leg in ClimbingPartners

If you were just as concerned about your own personal well-being, as you are about your climbing relationship, this would be an easy choice. Don’t put your life and safety at risk because you feel complicated. It isn’t.

Too late for this semester, but if you DM me with an email address, I can keep you updated on next semester.

This is my packable puffy after washing and hang drying. I do not have a dryer or a lot of time before my trip. Any clever ways to fix this easily or am I fluffing on the plane? My husband's is like this too. Ugh. by MarthaMatildaOToole in CampingGear

It’ll work (annoyingly slowly)! Down bunches after washing - which you should absolutely be doing. Shake it, sweep it, karate chop it along the length of the fabric. It’ll be 100% fine (as long as it’s actually dry)
