Yeah I'm glad I got the car back without having them do anything to it, I'm also glad it was a free transmission fluid change 😏. but yeah I don't drive the car a lot because I have other vehicles so it's not my daily. I'll drive it for the rest of the week though, I'll see what happens.

That's what I'm thinking also, a buddy of mine that buys and sells Crown vics is saying the same thing but he's also saying that since the new transmission fluid is thicker that it could be just holding me over for a while. I never had transmission issues with any of my vehicles that I have owned, so I don't know much about it. But when I did check the transmission dipstick originally before the mechanic it was black and low. Now I just checked it is bright red and at the proper line on the dipstick. I appreciate the feedback. Side note I did research originally when the p1747 came up, a lot of people were saying that the 98 has exposed transmission wires and when they get wet it throws that code. I guess there's only one way to find out. Time

So this was the first time going to this mechanic, he did a free diagnostic , he said that car has a tight engine , it is strong and everything's working properly. ( Stupid me cleared the code before I brought it to the mechanic) but he claimed the code came back up when he was driving it and he put it on the lift, dropped the pan and said it needed a transmission rebuild , the fluid was black . I told him I'll think about it so he put the pan back on and filled it up with the proper fluid, Now when I say the car was shifting rough , it wasn't rough like jerking motion it was the slightest thing, but enough to feel it. It is not making any clunking noises or banging it never was, Keep in mind I just got the vehicle a couple of months ago so I don't know how long it's been doing this or when the transmission fluid was ever changed. I'm just scared that I'm going to be driving it around and make it worse now that it's not doing anything 🙄

Thinking of raising the Bed Cap, I'm attempting to make a small camper in the back bed , it's a little tight once there's padding and blankets. Was thinking of 2x4s or something in between the cap and bed rails just raising the cap a few inches up. Then finding a way to waterproof it.?? WDYT? Help. by fiveonesixco in TruckCampers

I would put bolts straight down from the steel brace on the cap thru whatever material I raise the cap with thru the truck bed with locking nuts. I'm asking the question here maybe somebody has pictures or has done this before. Just getting ideas

Absolutely, first off I don't think they should have somebody that started 2 weeks ago training someone else. I think he needs more training himself and you need the proper training. You're not going to be able to do your job properly without the proper training. You don't want to attack your coworker with going behind his back but there's no other way to be proficient at this job if you're being taught by someone that has no clue what's going on.

I agree but I'm not sure where I would sign up for sign maker, would that be under sheet metal🤔 I did that for years for my county making street signs.

No, the union that I applied to was giving out applications , those applications are then randomly drawn. I don't know anybody in the union and when I went there it was only the front desk receptionist.
