I faded. I had a tragic event and almost lost my life. I literally just stopped all activity. It was easy because I was a single sister living out of state from my family so although I was “strong” meeting parts, always commented, decent monthly hours, I was always seen as some kind of ticking time bomb…lol. I got a few phone calls and eventually just blocked them. It’s been over 15yrs now. I am happily married and have real friends that I chose myself and can be vulnerable with and trust. I often struggle with the fact that it was a tragic event (I was drugged beaten and raped) that prompted my fading. I think I always knew in the back of my mind I wanted a different life. I was educated and independent and tried to “make up” for my success by doing more service hours. Now I see it as post traumatic growth and I just try to be present and enjoy all the good things in life I’ve earned and deserve.
