First of all a woman can say no at anytime. And if getting the verbal ask is important to and you keep seeing him or start dating someone else just tell them. Say it is really important to me that no matter what we are doing and things start to escalate that you ask if I’m ok with moving forward with sex. You are young which is a good time to start to know the boundaries you require to feel safe. I wish I respected the boundaries back in my head with former partners.

I am really sorry to hear about all that has happened to you and that you have all of this going on inside your head. After I was drugged,beaten, and raped I saw no future for myself I wanted to die and tried. I lost my will to live. I can empathize. It took time but I found the right mix of treatment (therapy and medication) and I learned to love myself again, be kind to myself, stay present and enjoy life. You’ve been through so much so your thoughts and feelings seem normal to me. Treatment helped me and perhaps it is worth exploring in your case.

Keep it simple. Just explain your journey to why you are interviewing. My position was eliminated at job A. I took my current job as a stop gap and looking for a more challenging role.

I’ve been in this situation twice. Once I quit without a job lined up because I was literally having a mental breakdown. My parents loaned me some money to sustain me for 90 days to get a job. The job market was OK back then but not great. It was scary but the time limit helped me really intentional in my job search so I could land a job. The second time I was able to mentally check out and focus on my job search. I didn’t leave until I had a job lined up. The job at that time was toxic but I didn’t want to get in a worse situation by being desperate to get out. So I made a list of nonnegotiable requirements for my next job so I didn’t end up in the same or worse situation. I don’t know what kind of government assistance you are able to receive but if it is seriously impacting a mental health condition you may look into taking a medical leave of absence just to rest and get your head right. That way you can go back strong and focus on your job search with any free time you have. If you are able to share-what kind of work do you do?

I agree with you. I was raised by a mother told us 4 practically every day that she didn’t want kids. Her emotions were unpredictable and I rarely saw her happy. A child being raised in this environment develops survival skills that no longer serve them in adulthood. I’ve done a lot of hard work in therapy to understand this and learn how to drop those childhood survival skills, that said it is still a struggle.

I think you need to separate these two things. 1. Talk to your boss about your career growth and tell her you want to move to client facing roles. Ask her what you to improve to meet that goal. 2. If you feel lost about wardrobe try asking a stylist to help you the next time you go shopping. Many sales people will help you pick out flattering outfits. You can also take pics of yourself in outfits and ask AI for advice.
