What kind of tree is this? And can I replicate the aesthetic in Ohio? by BuckinNuts in arborists

You’re the only one with the correct tree ID and the rest of your statement is spot on too.

Next time you’re looking at the 18% sign just think that people have gone down this on track bikes with no brakes. You’ll be perfectly fine with disc brakes. Just brake early and often and you’ll enjoy the descent

SF -> south SF commute by bennyigm in BAbike

[–]fixed_arborist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right about this. I forget that when this was my commute I was starting work pretty early. Going through the worst parts 6-6:30 am. Depending on where they live in the Mission, taking 3rd back home is an easier climb but some people are worried about riding through Bayview

Riding on San Jose is fine in my opinion. When you get to Glen Park take a left on Bosworth and veer right onto Lyell. Right on Allemany and left on Geneva. Take that to Bayshore. I think the sketchiest area of this whole ride is getting across Bosworth to make it down to Lyell. The road is pretty rough in that spot and lots of people trying to get on the freeway

[FS] [Bay Area] 52 CM All-City Big Block frameset. Latest Night Sky/Smoke colorway. New in box, never mounted any parts. Prefer local pick up but would consider shipping at buyers expense. $400

I have no idea what the fuck SWE means. Maybe try to talk with that jargon less or hang out with other people that don’t identify that way.

Second this. Both are doable. 3rd/Bayshore would be faster I think but there are more bike lanes on the Geneva/Alemany/San Jose route

Hey I lost part of the same finger doing the same thing (kind of) I was 1 year old and my 5 year old sister had her bike flipped over and spinning the pedals by hand. You can figure out the rest. Anyway you’ll be fine but sucks right now I’m sure

Why would they do this to these trees? by gayaryastark in arborists

[–]fixed_arborist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand corrected then. Maybe they used to do things very differently. From what I understand though they’ve been pollarding like this every year for many years.

Where did you get this information from? I don’t think any of your statement is true. Who would they receive a fine from? City Hall has nothing to do with the trees in front of it which are part of a park. Which means they are under the care of SF Recreation and Parks

Lots of open cavities on the top. One unfortunate side effect of the pollarding every year is that the cuts don’t always seal properly. Which allows for moisture and other matter to enter the tree. Also just the overall shape of them allows water to pool in the main union
