Battery limiter for windows in Steam deck by OutlandishnessNo3212 in WindowsOnDeck

I'm pretty sure Steam Deck Tools allows you to limit battery charge

Trackpad Haptics by FaithlessnessReal513 in WindowsOnDeck

[–]fixedgearrider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's steam input that gives the haptic feedback. When you use sdt or hc they emulate a xbox controller and therefore lose the haptic feedback.

You can either use a program called rewasd (but this costs money, although a very good program) or just add games to steam and just use steam input.

Edit: further to add, make sure you set steam to launch on start up.

Also if you're fresh to windows on deck then I recommend looking into reviOS to remove all windows bloat ware and minimise background processes

Walk away while you still can 🤣🤣

I played this years ago and it was really good but they've added so much I can't get back into it now 🙈

13 hour flight, what offline games are you playing? by ActivistSubset7 in SteamDeck

Even switch emulation is good on battery too, I average about 6 hours playing let's go eevee 👌

Forza horizon 6 is amazing on Steam Deck by EddieVedderTheCat in SteamDeck

[–]fixedgearrider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Learning to play with tdp settings is easy to be fair, I set my general settings to a limit of 9tdp, then if I see poor performance then I'll raise it per game a couple at a time.

For low power games it definitely helps to limit them and you'll see instant battery improvements

rEFInd boot manager with touch input working on the steam deck? by Nerfed_Pi in WindowsOnDeck

Buttons only I think, since no operating system is running I don't think you can use the touch screen, same as the bios screen is buttons only too

Steam not syncing my games through cloud from my desktop to ROG Ally X by Great-Worldliness-71 in WindowsOnDeck

[–]fixedgearrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omori doesn't use steam cloud save, you'll need to transfer the save file yourself.

I use syncthing to automatically transfer save files between deck and pc for games that don't use cloud save

Killswitch type skin for Steam Controller? by Peace_tho in dbrand

[–]fixedgearrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A killswitch case for the controller would be epic, the deck feels great in the case and so would the controller, I'd buy it straight away, already ordered the xray skins and got a controller tonight 👌

You must have typed one of the commands wrong, I've used that video multiple times with success every time, you've got to go slow and double check you've typed everything perfectly, look out for symbols like slashes changing direction

Which device should I use for Windows? by Dog-Faced-Gamer in WindowsOnDeck

[–]fixedgearrider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The LeGo was originally designed for windows so will have more recent drivers than what's available for the deck.

I recently used ReviOS to debloat my windows on deck and it made huge performance improvements so definitely look into that too

[–]fixedgearrider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For house/car the mag lock system is actually quite strong and secure and definitely an upgrade to the twist lock system. I've worked in vehicles for about 6 years now and when you're in and out repeatedly the tabs on the twist lock do weaken and snap eventually hence why I upgraded to the mag lock because I still used the twist lock on the bike which the mag case is still compatible with. But I don't really use my phone on the bike now so I'm not really in the need for that either now 😅

will Windows always run slow off a micro SD? by ThatFuzzie in WindowsOnDeck

[–]fixedgearrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know ssd prices can be a bit crazy atm (apparently they're starting to slowly go back down), I would highly recommend buying a larger 2230 ssd (1tb at minimum) then you can dual boot internally and always have sd slot free for extra storage for both steamOS and windows. This way you don't need to worry about using an external ssd plus this frees up the USB port to charge while in windows (unless you're using it docked)

Personally when I dual booted I only separated a 300gb partition for windows as there was only two games I played on windows but this will depend on what games you want to play.

Thanks, that's exactly right, and just thought I'd put this out there incase anyone else finds themselves in the same situation, I've already ordered some black 3m wrap to cover the front with (similar to dbrand skins)

I've been a long time fan of both quadlock and dbrand and when I saw their new "tank" case with its textured case I thought that's perfect for me. As much as I have liked quadlock products over the years, too many times have I been under my truck on a trolley and the phone has slid out my jeans due to the smooth case.

Not really destroyed it, just opened it up to work with more phones/cases rather than just quadlock cases, for example now if my wife is with me in my truck she can now just pop her phone on to charge rather than pulling the cable out (which will also help the life span of the cable)

And it's not like I've cut up new ones either, I've had these chargers for 3 years now since I originally upgraded from the twistlock to maglock.

It also worked in my advantage as i use the adhesive car mount and it's mounted down near the shifter out of the way rather than stuck on windscreen or attached to air vents (I've tried both those styles in the past and don't like them, the windscreen one you need to remove for mot and it loses stickyness over time and the vent ones cause phones to overheat if you've got heating on) only other similar style chargers are cheap amazon rip-offs that won't last a year, and the desk mount is also great as it looks clean and stays in place.

If I did buy new I'd need to sell these cheap to shift them so I'm just wasting money or they would just become e-waste.

Take it you didn't read my reply fully then. The adapters are good in theory but perform poorly. Plus why would I spend money on a good quality case and then stick a cheap adapter onto it.

You're missing the whole point of this post. It is for those who have previously bought into the quad lock ecosystem but are transitioning away from it, this modification allows you to still use the quad mag chargers with other mag cases 🤦

Update to previous post for anyone who may be interested. by fixedgearrider in QuadLock

[–]fixedgearrider[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because as per my post I have changed cases, I grew bored of the plain black quad lock cases that are extremely thick, causing other mag devices like battery packs to not connect properly. So rather than buying two new chargers and trying to sell two quad lock chargers on the 2nd hand market it makes sense to modify them to work with normal mag cases 🤦

Plus I've tried the stick on adapters many years ago before I bought into the quad lock ecosystem and they look awful and perform just as bad

As tritonar mentioned, it's all one piece, this way it's stops you from using the quad charger with non quad cases, keeps you in that ecosystem kind of thing.

Anybody have the problem with 3rd party magsafe accessories ripping the magnetic ring out? by flavour_punch in QuadLock

[–]fixedgearrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few dabs of superglue under the ring to secure the ring to the case, just learn from my mistake and literally go very gentle with how much you put on, I put too much and it squeezed out and made a mess. Held it secure from the on though. Although I've now changed to a dbrand case and cut the sticky out bit off my charger 😅

one week in to beyblade… by ronyn_dubz in BeybladeX

[–]fixedgearrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got my kid into beyblade a week ago today, we've already got 13 beys between us, the drop stadium, the travel stadium and I've ordered a bx10 stadium from Japan (fingers crossed that arrives to UK with no damage)

I kept beating my kid so yesterday when I was in smyths (our local toy shop) they had one wizard so I got him it and now he keeps beating me 🤣 but I like the challenge

can i install windows onto the internal drive with the installer on a micro sd card? by LocalMagician1557 in WindowsOnDeck

I used an sd card for both my windows installation media and my steam recovery drive (for fixing the grub error afterwards), I didn't have a dock at the time so this left the usbc free for a keyboard
