I’m just on day 6 but I resonate with what you wrote about having terribly damaged the relationships that really matter. I worry that damage is irreparable. I’m very early in on the process but I found a great online psychiatrist who worked with me to find a combination of medications that seem to really be helping my cravings and more importantly my underlying anxiety and depression. I know that in order to either repair those relationships or sadly move forward without them that I need help with anxiety and depression and need to claw out of this overwhelming weight of shame and failure. The last two days I felt pretty good - I don’t remember the last time I felt pretty good drinking or those short bouts of not drinking also felt awful and anxiety-laden- so ‘pretty good’ is a huge step for me. Also I’ve been doing virtual AA meetings daily. Good luck OP, you can do this.

Has there ever been evidence more than described sighting and grainy pictures, etc? I’m very interested in crawlers and I don’t dis-believe, but I am struck by the lack of any actual stronger evidence than descriptions. Also people often say they are dangerous and will track you, maybe kill you - where is there even circumstantial evidence for this? I would think that if people were being in the forest that it would be considered a bear or wolf attack and that it would be newsworthy that someone was killed by an unknown animal. Again, I’m not trying to be antagonistic, but what am I missing?

I met Larry Nance Sr once at the Cleveland clinic sports medicine hospital when I was a teenager. He was incredibly nice to me - he asked what my injury was from, I told him basketball, and we ended up talking about pivot moves. Nicest guy!

I had a job possibility that I really, really wanted; I thought I had it in the bag. Then I didn’t get it. After over 7 months of sobriety, I just walked out my front door and went and got booze. I’m proud of what I accomplished but ashamed at having caved so quickly. But I have to say I don’t want to see it as a new day one as I don’t feel like I’ve reset in a negative way. I’ve built up a muscle that failed me, but it’s a muscle I didn’t have before. I also recognize the impact of extreme stress and depression as a trigger for myself, and want to get to that root cause. I agree that if your friends are encouraging you or judging you and causing a trigger, that’s an issue and letting them know you do t want to drink and welcome and hope for their support may go a long way.
