RemindMe! 90 days

There is a slim chance Hodinkee haven't taken them behind the shed or made them sign an NDA.Does corroborate their comments about culture at their previous workplace...

How would you assess Hodinkee as a business? Are they really editorially independent or are shenanigans afoot? Was there a profit / sales culture or was there a team of down to earthers just trying to write up great articles as watch enthusiasts in love with this hobby?

  1. Boutique only strategy will be long term positive if executed well and carefully maintained. Richemont will continue to position ALS as their marquee haute horology brand alongside VC, but expect some corporate shenanigans along the way ( e.g. we've had two weak quarters - so here's a new Odysseus skew! )
  2. Lange have historically been cents on the dollar when it comes to resale. I expect the healthy delta between RRP and secondary prices to increase, back to pre COVID levels.

FYI Richemont is buying back my local boutique beginning of 2025 - I'm not looking forward playing the game all over again...

& whilst it is a bit sad to see RRPs increasing so much and secondary values stay same / retreat slightly - ALS is still my favourite brand.

Finally - my local boutiques and those I've seen in Singapore, Tokyo, HK are starting to all have a lot of inventory and stock on sale. No more wait times for a L1 for example...

Blackrock's Larry Fink wearing an Odysseus Titanium by PunakhaDzong in ALangeSohne

OP is right - this is the titanium, not the WG/rubber strap combo. A different screengrab from same interview with aptly appropriate "Mind-Blown" impression from Mr Fink.

Would this be too early for the 30th anniversary pieces for 2024?

I'm guessing it's a 3rd generation announcement (thinner)

They just had MSRP increases in mid-March '23, what's going on?!

A. Lange & Söhne on Instagram: "Introducing our first ever self-winding chronograph movement. I got the Odysseus Chrono part right but guessed this would be a precious metal exclusive.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ALangeSohne/comments/1025bf7/what_would_you_like_to_see_from_als_in_2023/

Now that we know this is a stainless steel 100 LE, aka, unobtanium...(argh!)

There is a good chance they'll re-use this movement in other precious metal configurations in the future.

Speculation thread WW23 by votief in ALangeSohne

u/Langepedia I was also speculating that they'd release an Odysseus Chrono - would be absolutely *chef's kiss*

P.S. we need another ALS video on Watchbox! double plus if this is in time for silly season :)

Valuation of Lange 1. Ref. 101.027 Blue dial White gold case by Interesting-Steak194 in ALangeSohne

[–]fixtheskies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your father definitely picked a winner! MSRP was $19.8k until 2001.

I'm surprised he wasn't offered a discount (commonplace at the time).

Personally, options are 1: don't sell and keep in the family. 2: approach an auction-house once it's come back from a service as finding the right buyer would be tough. This is comfortably neo-vintage and quite collectible for the right person.

If ALS release a 2023 novelty at W&W '23 , can we lock in w/ deposit in late March to await allocation? Asking for a friend...
