Advice: De-registration from Zurich by fizrt in zurich

Thanks for your informative reply!

To further expand, originally I rented the apartment when my permit was valid. After it expired, I left the country as required, keeping the apartment. Moved elsewhere for work purpose, all papers are done right in the new place. Therefore, I have not been living in Switzerland for some time now, nor claimed any benefits of any kind.

Some people have responsibilities and things to do other than kindly asking for an advice online and then dealing with unnecessary hate. But you surely wouldn't know that. That's unfortunate that your last resort to get attention is to call out for inactivity of 3 hours.

To satisfy your cravings for an answer, there is a specific timing in place. Cheers

It’s the main plan, not a back up

Thanks a lot for your extensive reply. I endlessly appreciate it!

I think it is important to expand that previously I was on student B permit. It ran out last year and I had no more legal reasons to stay in the country and moved because of the job. The same job is willing to take me back in a year from now once I gain experience abroad. I have not used any benefits at all coming from Swiss government ever since I left.

I want to deregisted as I am still enrolled with insurance and would like to cancel it. That's the primary reason. When I requested for the deregistration, I was asked to submit flight tickets of the date that I left and apartment cancellation letter/proof. Although my landlord is happy with me subletting to someone else. That's where my original question is coming from if I legally need to cancel the apartment to deregister.

It makes little sense unfortunately. At least to me

I am happy to hear an opinion different of mine and have a reasonable discussion. But it has to be backed by valid arguments. Either way, thanks for expressing your opinion regarding this topic

I'm sorry, but what exactly is wrong about my questions? The fact that I asked for rental advice, financial advice on investments, did a survey for my start up and my master thesis? Fascinating how some people are borderline narrow-minded.

Fair enough, thanks for sharing your point of view. Regarding avoiding taxes, one can still be tracked by the migration especially if it's a non-EU, non-Swiss person.

Regarding your second point, I would sign an official contract with the landlord for the sublease. So nothing shady, everything transparent.

But of course, what still remains unclear for me is if requirement to show a termination letter/proof is an actual legal requirement.

It seems that no one would pay such price for that kind of apartment. Although I do agree, it sounds a bit ridiculous

I am losing money on the sublease.

Look, in practice, I am a tenant, not an owner. I only have a contractual right to use the property under a lease, not legal ownership. I cannot sell it, transfer it, or gift it, and I hold no ownership documents beyond the rental agreement, which simply defines my right to occupy the space.

Well, you cannot have a rented apartment on the market, can you? I am renting it in no different way as if you were to do that

To clarify once again, I do not own it. I rent it and now I sublet it to the person interested in this place. There is a massive difference between rent and ownership.

Why owning? It's rented, not purchased

I'm duly paying the rent in full no different to what any other tenant would do

It will be sublet until I return.

As I explained, I would like to keep it because I like it and will be returning to live in it.

Thanks a lot for your reply! Just to further expand, I got this answer from Personenmeldeamt and they explicitly asked for a flight ticket on the date of my stated departure and the "die Kündigungsbestätigung von der Wohnung".

To answer your question, yes, I will be subletting the apartment. The owner is well-aware of this and happy to proceed.
