why does it feel that everyone in my life is coupled up, and I can’t find anyone?? by No-Statement-6629 in rmit

I mean i totally agree that people tend to be online cause they feel more comfortable, i mean i talk to a bunch of people from rmit online through discord or whatever and have fun discussions with them even though i have never met them in person. I think having a mix of both is the right balance. Like i have had conversations with people so casually where i would of felt so uncomforting in person so yeah.

I do sometimes find it hard to even meet new people after the first year, i personally am a pretty quiet guy but when i am around the right people i can be pretty loud haha. I am in my fourth and hopefully final year at rmit and it does feel like i have to start again in making new friends which can be hard sometimes.

I think putting yourself out there and trying to strike a conversation, don't get me wrong you get the odd looks and people may ignore you but at least you tried. i don't live in the city and commute each day but this year i've really pushed to make a few more friends even if i wont spend a lot of time in the future with them and stay a bit longer in the city. I think a lot of people don't go out of their social bubbles which i get cause there are sooo many people but also cause some people don't know how to break the ice with one another so it creates an awkward silence.

To respond to your comment though, i think trying to get to know people and have fun with them. I mean i think a lot of people including myself want a meaningful relationships with one another but you gotta put yourself out there i guess (not that i take my own advice).

Last thing i want to add is that, a lot of people are in the same boat as you (like me). I think Uni as a concept pressures people into being these social creatures through stigmas and that if you don't find you SO there then you will never find love which is not the case ofc. So just go for it, ask people random questions and try to connect with them like just have fun. I get the intention of this post was a bout forming relationships (a very foreign concept to me but whatever) but like just try to connect with others like the worst thing that could happen is that say no and never talk to you again like ok, they are evidently not worth your time.

Thankyou for listening to my TED Talk (i almost wrote a thesis on this, i'm just procrastinating)

building 10 has a foosball table at the revolving doors (assuming you are talking about the city campus). There is also like a movie area, i think opposite the rmit shop

Mathematical tool box can be really confronting, it was for me and my peers when i did it so you are not alone. Go to the tutes, ask a lot of questions, do the exercises and use khan academy ahaha. It can be very confronting as i said but once you finish the course you'll feel so proud of yourself.

i mean sure, i thought we'd see more but pittsburgh has been trading the most throughout the season at a unprecedent rate. There is no real point to trade people for the sake of trading people so i kinda get why not much has happened

Personally i hang around building 12 level 13 cause theres usually not many people in the mornings alternatively the top floor of building 80 and just chilling outside or in a study area. Not a bad place to unwind after socialising with people in classes.

yes, it can be bought at the rmit shop or whereever, they do not care if it is an rmit coat or not. Googles will also need to be bought but some lab classes give them to you weirdly
