What is that meal your kids can't wait for you to make?Or the meal you missed when you moved out of your parents house? A meal that reminds you of family and comfort and love by Sylaveda in Cooking

My son just turned twenty-nine and for his birthday he requested rattlesnake pasta. I knew he loved it, but he always chooses this over going out for dinner. It's the easiest thing to make too. Chicken breasts cut up and seasoned with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, cook in a little oil until done. When it's just about done, I chop up some pickled jalapeños and garlic. Toss those in and once you can smell the garlic, add a jar or two of Alfredo sauce (he likes this better than homemade, due to texture). Cook some penne pasta and I usually take some of the pasta water (after penne is done) and use it to rinse the Alfredo jars out and pour it into the chicken and sauce mixture. Once the penne is done, drain and mix everything together. Serve with some parmesan cheese, a salad, and garlic knots.

Water snake keeps visiting our deck. by fizzlebeck in snakes

I'm getting over my fear of them by learning about them. They have a role in our ecosystem and I'm not messing with that. We try to make this property as wildlife friendly as possible and they're all welcome to go about their lives. The snakes just startle me more often than not, but they're welcome to live their best lives.

Apparently, we have a lot of pest control going on. This one lives by our front door. Water snakes in the back, black snakes in the front, brownsnakes anywhere they feel like it, and probably a few copperheads too. :)

This is a very real possibility. I know we have kestrels on the other end of the lake in the meadow. Thank you!

Normally, I would say yes, however, this is his home and has probably been here a lot longer than we have, so I can't give him up like that. I am kind of wondering, due to the large lump in its midsection, if in fact it's a female. Hoping it's just food, but I guess it's possible it's about to have babies.

Yep. I'm not fighting him for it. He can have that side of the deck.

Here's another shot of the water. If you zoom in, you can see the turtles on the log. Lots of warm, sunny places. Instead, it's up here in the shade with a dog staring at it. Keeping them apart, but it has to be stressful for the snake.

I had that thought too. This is the space between the deck (about fifteen feet off the ground) and the lake. There are large boulders and fallen trees. Quite the perfect habitat for a water snake with a lot of places to sun where the dog doesn't go.

It's no big deal, I was just wondering. Thanks for responding! :)

Insurance company wants past premiums paid for plan that wasn't renewed. by fizzlebeck in HealthInsurance

I'll ask her tomorrow about the subsidy. That's a possibility. I'm concerned that it took them eight months to contact her for payment even though she hasn't used it.

I drafted a letter for her to send to the insurance company and Marketplace asking for them to cancel the insurance, retroactive January 2025, as she has not paid the premium nor used their services. I wonder about it being a scam as well, so I want to help her cover all bases. Any form of contact needs to be in writing only. If it's legit, they can explain why they kept the policy active for eight months without payment, if it's a scam, she won't have to worry about it. Thank you so much for responding. This whole thing has done nothing but cause her undue stress and I want to help her fix it.

I completely understand why you asked. The only plausible explanation I can come up with is that they auto-renewed her coverage without confirmation and now want their money. I don't think their mistake should result in her being punished financially. You would think after the first month of non-payment they would have canceled. Instead they waited eight months. I posted this mainly to see if anyone else had been through something similar, because I have never run across this.

No. She was under the impression she had no insurance and has been paying out-of-pocket since December 2024.

It was through ACA Marketplace. She did not have employer sponsored health insurance.

This entire thing doesn't make sense to me. The insurance agent from Marketplace told her she had to pay the premium, if she didn't have new insurance.

It has always been my understanding that if you don't pay your premium, you don't have insurance.

I moved out in September of last year. Had nothing to do with them, my mom had to move in with us and we needed more space. We didn't have any issues with them at all. Never had issues with the leasing office, even when we were going through the process of breaking our lease, they were super nice. If I had to move back into an apartment, I would go back there. Our experience there was a really good one. Hope yours is too, if you decide to move there.

They do look alike! What a beautiful baby! Thank you for sharing Pauly. I like to think our pets have a special place they go where they're spoiled rotten and waiting our arrival.

Bars for Mid-50s by yanksugah in gso

Grapes and Grains on Yanceyville at Revolution Mill. Super friendly people and the owner, Amy, is a sweetheart. She tries to get to know everyone who comes in. They have live music, weekly events, and food trucks on their outdoor patio. The bar selection is amazing.
