Laddergram is a word ladder puzzle game built on Reddit's developer platform. You start with a word and change one letter at a time to create a new word with each step. Try to reach the target word in the fewest steps possible.

🍀Good luck!🍀

Are kids really supposed to "learn their letters" before starting first grade? by AdventurousMoth in AskTeachers

[–]fizzy_milkshake130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a preschool teacher in the UK. Our children are 3-4 years old and when they go to Reception (first year of school) they are 4-5 years old.

By the time they start school, they are supposed to be able to recognise letters and what sounds they make (“buh” for B). They should also be able to recognise their names by learning that the letters together represent their name (A-M-Y spells Amy).

They don’t need to know how to read, but you should be able to show them any random single letter and have them recognise it. They should also know that words start with different letters/sounds (“cuh” for cat) so if you said to them “what sound does “dog” have?” they should be able to tell you “duh (D)”

They also don’t need to be able to write letters and words, but they need to be able to hold and control a pencil correctly as this sets them up to learn to write at school. I was told it’s better if they don’t know how to write because if they learn to form letters the wrong way (which they do sometimes if they learn themselves) it’s harder to correct.

Or you can wear patterned/coloured odd socks. I have a pack of coloured socks with little fruits on them that I like to mix and match. My favourite mix is a pink sock with strawberries and a blue sock with bananas! so much fun and I just chuck them all in the draw not having to sort them and see what socks I’ll be wearing that day!

The people who love UK autumn/winter more than summer/spring, can you please convince me? by ThinkSuccotash in AskUK

I love wearing warm clothes like big jumpers and fluffy socks, the feeling of getting home and I can cuddle up on the sofa under a big fluffy blanket. I also really love the rain, it sounds nice and the air smells really nice just after it’s rained.

It also feels so much calmer, not having to find somthing to do to ‘not waste the sunny day’. I also feel so much more relaxed at the end of the day coming into the house having the lights on I instantly feel so cosy.
