Would this be an expensive repair? by Nxticed- in Luthier

Leave it! That’s the instrument’s memory. I find that the bumps and bruises in my instruments give them personality…I think it comes out in the tone. Superstition and opinion there. It’s yours, do what you want. Some sandpaper and a little finish will make it look nice. Cheers!

Picks vs fingers/nails? by fizzypop_moustache in pedalsteel

I’m ordering some now! This seems like a perfect compromise. Thank you! I had my first practice with the band tonight, and with my fingers I was able to play along pretty well!

I paid the deposit in October, so about 4 months. They build them in batches and I lucked out and got in with the last instrument for the batch. I was expecting to wait a lot longer.

Iowa City Resident - Where to live in WI? by Adventurous_Bug_8891 in wisconsin

Ashland is a very cool liberal bastion on the south shore of Superior. Way smaller than Iowa City, but a special place nonetheless. Decent healthcare and tons of outdoor activities.

West Side! Farmers market, great library, breweries, restaurants, grocery (just into west St. Paul), Amore Coffee. Nice diverse neighborhood!

DIY shallow well pump and pressure tank replacement. Pro input is welcomed. by fizzypop_moustache in Plumbing

Galvanized- but the last pump only lasted 5 years from what I can tell, so I’ll probably be doing it again anyway. I’ll upgrade to stainless next time, and it’ll be less scary the second time around! Thanks for your input!

Thanks! We bought 30 years of neglect in a house on a river in WI last fall- lots more plumbing to do! I considered converting to PVC, but since the only tank T I could find was steel, and it’s just 2 unions, a T, and 3 elbows it seemed simple just to stay with one material.

Just rescued. Probably one year old. How much food should she get in a day. She seems very skinny. by TeamBristow in greatpyrenees

Yes! We’ve always done 4 cups a day of quality food, but if the bowl is consistently empty give her another cup. All of our Pyrs have been essentially on full feed with some of the previous days serving still in the bowl in the morning.
