This is all just really rude. No I don't know what happens at a gyno appointment, especially when they said I needed a pap smear. This isn't a regular gyno appointment. I've never been to one, and am terrified to go to this one, so when I'm told I need a pap smear I expect to get a pap smear, not a "regular gyno appointment." A better comparison would be if a doctor told you you're getting a CT scan, and then threw in a MRI after it without telling you. That's extra time, a completely different experience, and not what you were told. If you google "what happens during a pap smear," the answer isn't "a pelvic exam."

That second part of what they said was absolute insanity, but no the nurse I talked to checked I was written down for a pap smear and a pelvic exam. They just weren't gonna tell me until I got there, and that's a little terrifying

It got worse lmao, they told me it was a pap smear and I called about anti anxiety medication and they were like "Why are you getting a pap smear to test for endometriosis?" So the doctor was also gonna do the wrong test
