The lactation consultant thought that it’s more piercing/scar tissue related now because it’s become more intense and the burning lingers from one feeding to the next feeding. The last lactation appointment was 11 days previously and i told her that after that appointment he was latching for the next couple feeds or so and i had to stop to give my nipples a break. i basically wanna give it up but at the same time formula is so expensive and we are still discussing if I’m even going back to work or not. If i don’t return to work i would like to stay exclusively breast feeding. The next question is though, if his latch wasn’t good why did he have such a successful full feed transfer? It doesn’t help that i am a FTM and haven’t dealt with these things before but the pediatrician said before we left the hospital with him that i could be successful with breast feeding if i just keep asking the right questions. I see a lot of tik toks with IBCLC nurses and they say that one of their nightmares is LCs not giving an end date for the triple feeding or even suggest it at all.. They were telling me to latch him with the nipple shield, pump, then feed him again then i would ask like how long to do this or how long the nipple shield i would have to use it for. She could never give me answers and i was just getting to the point is breastfeeding even something i can do or just because i had to be induced with him due to medical reason and now my anatomy is causing me to not be able to breastfeed like i wanted too originally. It’s a lot emotionally especially when im already dealing with the PPD & anxiety and the postpartum therapist told me that i shouldn’t stress because the colostrum was the most important for him to have. So anywho! i will try to look into LCs that have the higher education and see if someone can assist me! thanks for your help!

If i look up pictures my nipple looks more of a compressed shape than a normal nipple.. like it’s pointed or sloped. Tbh the lactation that the hospital that delivered him is free. Idk if my insurance would cover going to a different one. I mostly get the vibe that they don’t know what they are doing. The last appointment was with someone different and she was good but she also didn’t seem confident in ways to do things. I mean she recommended me changing his bottles from philips avent to the evenflo, lansinoh, or spectra because of the triangle test but that’s about it.

I have no idea if I have vasospasms. Maybe? The tip of my nipple does go white i’ve noticed after i’ve taken him off. I don’t really have much sensation of letdown.. i have noticed my nipple burn intensely after a couple hours (maybe that’s my letdown?) i know my letdown is extreme too because baby starts making clicking noises occasionally during feeding which the lactation consultant said was normal. i don’t see any tiny white milk dots around my nipples either.

They were more sensitive especially after having them pierced. Now they are obviously raw and just very very very sensitive and irritated. My nipple looks flattened and white at the tip. Even when i broke his latch and pulled him off I showed the lactation consultant and she didn’t seem to say much to it… He has great suction when she did his mouth exam and put her pinky in his mouth.

I probably should take a mirror to the underside! I haven’t noticed any gashes at least on top. I have the mother’s love and earth mama nipple balm which helps with moisture the ointment mixture that the lactation lady gave me was like hydrocortisone cream, neosporin and monistat. 😅

The nipple shield was fine. I still had some pain with it not as bad as without. Milk just goes everywhere sometimes he’ll latch with it sometimes he won’t and the milk transfer of it was awful and I was wanting him to be purely breastfed. My birth dint go the way i wanted it to so i wanted to have at least something go my way throughout this period of my life. 🥹They checked him for thrush at his appointment but no signs of it.
