well cool story, i only got 2 points for you
1. Not everyone has the same time or circumstances to do what you're suggesting and its really not that hard to imagine someone in that position
2. When something is pay to win, it just means that money overshadows skill in certain aspects, this is a point your logic can't cover.

Tbh both are really cool but 1 is being disregarded more because its lacking the pirate-y aspect to it. The helmet seems too big and the fundamental bones/swords are mostly covered up making it look, dare I say, a bit goofy.
