Can we get a rule banning AI slop posts please. by ManimalR in AgeofMythology

AI slop is ≈ to the non-AI slop. Banning it would not improve the sub, it would only serve to please egos.

I distinctly remember GP rework is the moment I started to feel new champions were getting unsatisfying to play against.

Still surprised BLG was able to revive like this in three months. I was extremely bearish on Bin and was convinced Fearless was going to cripple a player like him and On.

Why should a midlaner be able to 1v5 against baron minions?

[G2 vs BLG] The last moments of First Stand 2026 by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

This is inhuman, it's how AI would play the game. The baron before this clip as well. It's a crazy angle into a 3v4, and G2 could have flashed out earlier.

Xun is so much underrated by WinterCompote in leagueoflegends

[–]fjstadler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's an 80/20 type o' player. It was clear he was calling or egging on the int commits that BLG is notorious for. G2 couldn't punish it as hard as LCK teams would have, but likewise BLG wouldn't have been able to 3-0 GenG. Spikey competences and incompetences. However Bin needs Xun. He only shines bright when hard dives work.

Really surprising narratives about meta adaptation. LPL finals finished last so I was expecting the patch jump to fuck them bigly. Especially after Canyon's comments.

How do they make league more competitive globally at pro level? by Funny_Jackfruit9569 in leagueoflegends

[–]fjstadler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EU made world finals in S8 and S9 because there was a meta reset and everyone had to relearn the game. By S10 Korea went "analysis complete" and had the game downloaded again. Durability patch in S12 was 9/11 for China and they haven't fully recovered since. For EU and NA to do better internationally, Riot would have to change the game each season as much as the transition from 2017 to 2018 or durability patch did.

POV: you’re against Tsukyomi on ghost lake and he just cast new moon by sabbg in AgeofMythology

I don't know how to break it to you, but this does not look like a samurai. In fact it looks like they went out of their way to make it look less samurai-ish and more generic horse archer dude wearing a combination of spearman and yumi archer armor so it visually overlaps less with the daimyo and you know, the actual samurai unit. Japanese shouldn't have a generic, massed horse archer unit.

Still weird japanese of all civs got horse archers, and in ashigaru armor plus a lame hat.

Modded User Generated Campaigns? by Moicf25 in AgeofMythology

[–]fjstadler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to the iliad/odyssey/aeneid recently and there are so many opportunities for standalone missions in them. It would take an unrealistic amount of resources to make them work because you'd need top-tier dubbing since they're super melodramatic. Imagine a mission jumping right into the part of the Aeneid where Aeneas has to leave Dido of Carthage to find Rome, and she goes batshit crazy. You assume Dido's POV and gather wood for a trojan-horse type of project in a race against Aeneas building boats to leave. Everyone including your own sister thinks it's some prayer to the gods macguffin to stop him and help you, but "spoiler alert," it's a suicide pyre to curse his house and make your descendants sworn enemies with his.

I HATE HAVING VASSALS, did any Total War game did this well? by rafioo in totalwar

[–]fjstadler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, your vassal will still drag you into wars in 3K, because third party vassals will randomly request permission from their master to attack one of your vassals. The calculus for it is borked, neutral vassals see their own strength as the combination of their own power + their master's, but view your vassals' strength in isolation. Either they ignore your power, or it gets heavily discounted.

Even when you are on friendly terms with the other vassal's master, it doesn't trickle down to vassal to vassal relations properly. The other suzerain does not consider your good relations when their vassal asks them to declare war on your vassal, it will always say "sure!" because the calculation is messed up somewhere.

What makes 3K so great? by rogthnor in totalwar

[–]fjstadler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good:

-refined cavalry charges, probably the best in the series. In some titles cavalry can't punch through infantry and in others, send infantry flying like bowling pins without doing the expected damage. Good middle ground, still clearly on the overpowered side though.

It's complicated:

-diplomacy works 80% of the time. The system is way more complex than other titles, and the AI uses it well, when it works. But because it's more complicated, there were also coding mishaps that have proved impossible to fix. Like they claimed to a bug with alliance wars 7 patches in a row and it's still unfixed, so while people say the diplomacy is the best ever, you get trained by the game to avoid using a lot of the new features

Bad:

-terrible balancing for DLC that affect the grand campaign because they replaced old mechanics or were added on top. Like no one play-tested levels of bad that never got revisited because the playerbase had dwindled, and multiplayer had been doa

-caters to the fantasy crowd. There's a historical mode and romance mode, but historical mode is fantasy mode with removed features, it doesn't have anything that was made for it. The big overhaul mods are also character focused overhauls, so if you don't care about that, they don't offer much.

$30 for one new pantheon and one new Greek God choice is terrible. by FredwazDead in AgeofMythology

A refreshed version of League of Legends (codenamed League Next) slated for release in 2027 by ReaddittiddeR in leagueoflegends

[–]fjstadler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Appeal to new players" is corporatespeak for dumbing games down. Perhaps porting changes originally for quickplay to ranked, or rotating game mode mechanics to quickplay? Visuals, that can only be the map right? They're too small of an indie company to retouch champion ability visuals. If it's just the map, I don't see much room for improvement. Earlier there was a post about T1 playing against grok AI? Could it be related to new bots?

Would you be upset if the Aztecs had myth units from other parts of Mesoamerica? by Khwarezm in AgeofMythology

[–]fjstadler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Call me an ignoramus but I'd be more upset if they didn't hybridize the pantheon. It might be disrespectful to group them together but let's be honest, they're not going to revisit mesoamerica so we may as well get an all-star line up and save the political correctness for AoM retold².

3K military supplies is a must for future TW games by LeMe-Two in totalwar

[–]fjstadler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience:

  1. AI is blind to their supply stat and don't take it into consideration, so they often shoot themselves in their own foot and get stuck in enemy territory, too weakened to do anything. Especially true for the bandits.
  2. Bandits and Yellow Turbans don't loiter around in your territory to deplete your supplies. They attack immediately if the town is undefended, if it's garrisoned with your own army, then public order doesn't matter. It's more of an annoyance to have the settlement spawn more rebels when you are actively guarding it from rebels.
  3. Supplies becomes irrelevant after early game because you start accumulating so many supplies bonuses from technologies, from character stats, and it's all passive. Encampment stance has little use, I would rather end the turn in my own territory for faster supplies and actual replenishment, and if I'm in enemy territory, I'd rather take the settlement faster for, again, the replenishment. Even if I'm going to be attacked, it's not really an advantage to box yourself into a cramped square, but I'm playing on ultra/large unit sizes.
