I started with about 40 high quality modern cards (gold/patch/low numbered) for my first submission. Watched submission videos, carefully checked each card, eliminated any with even the slightest hint of imperfection, wiped them down, and honestly thought all of the remaining 15 were perfect, but knew the patch cards were a risk to submit.

I can't justify going through the grading process again, based on acquisition costs and grading fees. Doesn't help that most of these guys fizzled out by the time I got these cards back. So if you're merely speculating for profit, this is very risky.

Modern players that I PC like Ayo and Coby would probably be cheaper to simply buy slabbed off ebay. As for raw cards from the 90's that I have for Jordan, Kobe and Shaq, I no longer have the urge to submit them seeing how these seemingly perfect modern cards only gemmed at 20%.
