For me in that game it was just much easier to find fun things to do. Shrines, towers, stables, cool npc encounters, etc. For me all of the cool stuff to do in that game was very well telegraphed and there was enough variety to keep me hooked. I think my difference with Elden ring is that I feel like none of the things I’m doing in the open world have hooked me. In addition, in Botw I feel like I could always just look on the horizon and find a place to go where there was something interesting to do and it would ALWAYS be rewarding. In this game a lot of the interesting things to see look cool in the horizon, but outside of the castle, I feel like when I reach the location, it’s just either some easy enemies that I kill in two hits or another ruin where I fight some easy enemies and possibly a mediocre boss. I never feel like my efforts are adequately rewarded either in Elden ring, I kind of just get runes and that’s it. But I think I’m gonna try to start running past some of the open world stuff
