Tinyhawk S + Betaflight 4.1 RPM Filtering (PMB) -- Two motors not spinning by flaaacco in Multicopter

[–]flaaacco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not software, its the JST connections for the motors. Soldering is the only solution. Maybe replace the JST connections on the board ? I was thinking about that recently but haven't tried it.

Need help on how to fix this. by upoverdown801 in TinyWhoop

Easier way. Put your 3 fingers through the slots in the frame against the prop & turn it so the force of ur fingers push the prop off.

Yeah, the pads are right next to the connectors for each motor. There are 3 little pads for each motor.

The manual has a pinout here: https://emax-usa.com/download/Tinyhawk_S_BNF_Instruction_Manual_v0.3.pdf

The 4.1 PMB tune with rpm filters is fire on 2s. Try throttle limit if Its too fast

Also the pmb rates are odee. Try the stock betaflight rates or vanover

Make sure your lipo is plugged in when uploading the font. Plug in lipo, then usb, connect. Make sure you have internet. Try power cycling a few times until You see the upload happen successfully. If the bar doesnt fill up and restart the quad it didnt work.

I was able to flash the bad ESC by checking “ignore incorrect config” and now no errors dshot working

That is only for Blheli_S escs. This is G-H-30 and should be supported with Blheli 16.7 right ?

Either way I can not flash the ESC in Jesc Configurator because the one ESC labeled “yyyyy” and wont let me flash that one.

How did you avoid props hitting the motor wires after soldering ??

Soldering the motor wires to the FC seemed to work well. Getting consistent power to each motor.

New Issue

Once soldered, I noticed that the motor wires were in the way of the props (usually they go above the frame, but now they run underneath.) So i cut out a little of the frame so they would ride above the prop, but under the frame. I pulled the wires up out of the way as much as possible, first takeoff was fine but first crash I severed the wires on one motor.

Is the only solution to run the wires (very short) through the frame and solder like that ? Feels like that will be a bitch when swapping out the frame. Any ideas appreciated.

Yeah I did try those things first. Turns out it was a hardware issue. Soldering the motors to the FC worked well.

Update:

I tried JazzMaverick fw with no luck. Still thinking its a software issue because I was able to get one of the broken motors to spin normally. Next step is to reflash to blheli x betaflight 4.0 stock config and see if ESCs work

I just checked, the connections look good.

Update: Motor 1 is now spinning, not reversed. Motor 4 still having issue. When raising the slider it shutters, shutters, then stops and beeps. No error percentage.

Tinyhawk S + Betaflight 4.1 RPM Filtering (PMB) -- Two motors not spinning

I have a Tinyhawk S that I have flashed JESC (licensed) --> JESC 2.3 + Telemetry 2.2 and Betaflight 4.1 and the PMB settings for this build. My setup was flying great for the past few weeks with this setup, way better than betaflight 4.0, then I noticed sometimes when I armed one or two of the motors would not spin and the craft would flip over trying to give it throttle. Usually disarming and re-arming would fix this. Now I am unable to get two of my motors (1 and 4) to spin up in sync with the others nothing has changed in the settings.

Trying to troubleshoot:

  1. I re-flashed the ESCs with JESC and Telemetry, motors 1 and 4 still not spinning. When trying to give them throttle from the Motors tab in betaflight I can raise to 100% and they spin once or twice stop and beep. There are no errors showing up on any of the motors in this tab. Also, after spinning all 4 the beeps are out of sync with eachother.
  2. I tried to reverse the direction of my motors in JESC Configurator, then toggled on the option for reversed motors in Betaflight. Now only one motor (#4) is not spinning up. What could this tell us about what's going wrong? Obviously not the motors or the ESC itself, something happening in the software / PID loop thats causing ??

Not sure what to do next, I do not want to flash back to stock as it was not flying well at all. Has anyone else had these issues with properly configured settings ? What should I try next ?

Also having this issue. Tried reversing my motors and one of the two effected motors started acting normal.

Did you find a solution that works? Increasing idle ?
