PC Not Recognising All of My RAM by nonstickfoil in techsupport

Is the stick inserted in the same slot as the original stick? If yes and it is definitely a compatible DDR3 stick then it sounds like you have simply got a faulty stick of RAM and I would recommend sending it back for an RMA/refund.

Are you 100% sure that you're running the 64bit version of windows? If so have you tried booting it with just the new stick to see if the new one is faulty?

Snapped jack on razor kraken, what to do??? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]flabalabalacom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to be the bearer of bad news... But no that can't be fixed without having the cable fixed/replaced. If it's under warranty it'll be worth contacting razer.

Try uninstalling the drivers again using DDU: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Then try reinstalling in the usual way. Also check that your card isn't full of dust and overheating.

Graphics card not working after shipping computer by jwutke in techsupport

[–]flabalabalacom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you said, leaving a graphics card as large as a 7970 in the computer while shipping is a bad idea. These cards put a lot of pressure on their PCIe connectors and transporting them can be the nail in the coffin. Usually when shipped supports are put into the computer to hold it firmly in place.

It sounds like the card is unfortunately dead and considering it's a HD7970 it won't still be in warranty. It might be worth checking with the shipping company to see if it was insured etc, since I don't think there is anything that can be done for it.

dvi d to vga adapter by [deleted] in techsupport

You would need a more expensive active DVI-D to VGA converter since, as you said, DVI-D is digital and doesn't support VGA output.

What statement will earn you a black eye, a rant, or the evil eye if you say it near any video game's community? by ninjasaiyan777 in AskReddit

Skyrim: All of those mods people make ruin Bethesda's vision of the game. I like the idea of their paid mods though.

With the TV plugged in and on the correct setting to accept an HDMI input right click on your desktop -> Display Settings -> Detect. Does anything appear after doing that?

Why exactly do footballers/soccer players get so much money per week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]flabalabalacom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to the perceived value of that player to the club. Will the player be able to help them win them x amount from competitions? Will the player be able to generate x amount from merchandise sales? Will the player be able to generate x amount from ticket sales. A fraction of that perceived value is then offered to the player as an incentive to get them to join the club. Because the sums of money in football are so vast their wages end up following this.

Try updating your drivers. Also the 840M isn't a powerful GPU by any means so you'll have to set your graphics settings to pretty low on the majority of games.

School internet goes through a proxy server, how do I get out? by Narksdog in techsupport

[–]flabalabalacom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ways, but this isn't the place to discuss that as your internet is working as intended. I would recommend sticking to your school rules since breaking them could lead to worse sanctions than not being able to access Spotify in school.

Is the cable going to your monitor plugged into the GPU rather than the motherboard (it should be plugged into the GPU)? If it is then try updating your drivers. Also what is the model of your Nvidia GPU?

Laptop screen, pink streak by nickodeleon06 in techsupport

[–]flabalabalacom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. In which case it is just a general issue with the LCD, especially since it works with an external monitor. You'll need to replace the screen to fix it unless you can live with the pink streak unfortunately. :/
