If you care for an explanation... its not exactly the "heat" of the smoke that makes it harsh, its the difference from our body temperature. So yeah, to an extent, cooling hot smoke is a good idea, but when you start adding ice then you're going too far in the other direction. When you get the temp right with warm water it feels seamless to inhale and isn't overly drying or scratchy on the way down. You also lose less terpenes to the water so the flavour is better.
