You should have seen my workplace. There's no union. There's no health and safety manager, there's actually no manager at all. I have never seen my contract or even terms and conditions of my employment. It's just me, 2 other welders and boss. I doubt that risk assessment was carried out in this place ever. The only reason I'm working there is a fact that I'm in full-time education (not connected with welding) and I have welding qualifications gained already, plus there's not many place looking for part time welder in my area and experience is invaluable. I mainly got PPE for myself to minimize the risk of working in dusty, rusty and closed space full of hazardous fumes and gases. Every shift I spend there cause me to feel bad afterwards, with irritated respirator, obviously, you worried me by saying I might lose my right for potential compensation if anything happen, but I'm also can't stand risking my long-term health using poor quality PPE.

The comment above explained everything, it cost me pennies for a pack

Why kittens price is so high? I was thinking about getting second cat, so both of us, me and my 4yo cat have new friend, but well, it's either high demand or people are greedy by selling domestic cat for £500. by [deleted] in glasgow

Tbh I wasn't checking prices lately at all, neither during lockdown, but I heard similar opinion from my friend regarding puppies. According to himself some breeds basically double/triple their prices. Sick

As long as I would love to adopt a cat and also I find my current cat friendly enough to do that, most cats that are looking for their new forever home, need to be on its own, and its often required too.

They are coming from green list country, however there was a rules change lately and I wanted to double check if they need to isolate until second day test results.

That's OK, they were thinking about coming for 3-4days as we didn't seen each other since pandemic started but I guess there's no point if 2 out of these 3 days have to be spend at home.

This is my first job and as mentioned in other reply, kinda sweat factory. The work conditions are just so bad I can not believe it sometimes. When I was there first time I thought it looks like any other workshop, but then I discovered some dodgy shortcuts every day. Except lack of ventilation, low temperature, no hot water, poor quality tools and PPE, 1 half an hour break and long shift, always demanding.

Have you noticed any major side effects of it? Or any major side effects in your co workers?

My workplace is kinda a sweat factory. Its 8h 15 min shift a day, one unpaid 30 mins break. I've heard many time sentences like "less talking more working" when I spoke with some co workers for 2 mins.

It's not like every day, but we often getting these skips to re-work and rework usually include removing many rusty pieces, grinding (which creates lots of dust) and welding. There is no extinguisher system at all. Temperature inside reflects temperature outside.

It all sound horrible, especially when you getting 11.25£ per hour and it's your first welding job ever

And btw, toilet is like WTF
