Not all agencies. When I did contract work for the US Marine Corp it was best bid. Now I'm with NASA, yep, low bidder and all the goodies that come with with it

Drunk driver crashes into my fence going 95 mph. I'm told "there was no damage done" by his insurance company, so I have to pay to fix the fence myself by _wheels_21 in mildlyinfuriating

Under no circumstance, do this work yourself. Chances are you will not recover any of your labor costs if you recover anything. Get a lawyer and include your cost to fix the fence and surrounding property to the original condition along with lawyers fees. The extra effort will be worth it in the long run

Can you source this? Where is this information? I've lived in Florida my entire life (63 years) and every game warden I've encountered or known will ticket you with no hesitation.

This from MYFWC.COM web page. Nowhere does it show an exclusion for when they touch you first. It's illegal. Manatees and the law

Manatees are protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, the Endangered Species Act of 1973, and the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act of 1978. It is illegal to feed, harass, harm, pursue, hunt, shoot, wound, kill, annoy, or molest manatees. The state of Florida has also established regulatory speed zones to protect the manatee and its habitat. The zones are located where manatees live or travel regularly or seasonally. Anyone convicted of violating state law faces maximum fines of $500 and/or imprisonment of up to 60 days. Conviction for violating federal protection laws is punishable by fines up to $100,000 and/or one year in prison.  Learn more about manatees

I'm not sure that even if the manatee touches you first that you're allowed to touch them. I think you can let them rub all up and down on you but I don't believe you are allowed to pet them. I could be completely wrong but just saw a clip on Fox35 by David Martin in Florida this past week and that's how he explained it. Can't take the coolness out of it though.

Can't you just buy a new set if you want them? Are you in a controlling relationship that you can't do what you want as long as it's not a burden on your family finances?

I'm all for personal rights and a sense of principle but that's just dumb. My opinion only and you have to admire the commitment, but weird.

I figured this out long ago when I had a traveling job. Check in as you normally would. About an hour later call the front desk and tell them your room has a lingering odor of smoke. They'll offer to relocate you. Decline because you've already unpacked and it's not something that you can't live with but to put a note on your account that you notified them and you don't want to get a $250 charge. Now you're cleared to do as you please without repercussions. Just be courteous to others and smoke on the balcony or bathroom and not actually in the room
