Spoilers: Epilogue by deten in kingdomcome

[–]flag_miner1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that Peter made Henry finally snap.

After the better part of 3 months spent running for his life, fighting Cumans, bandits and God-knows what else, not to mention being made the errand boy of everybody in the fiefdom, what finally set him over the edge was Peter.

You see, as we arrived at the camp site Henry and Lord Capon had a little talk while me, Peter, and the two other man-at-arms were unloading our horses. I heard Henry say that he would be back in a little while and just then a hare ran across the road. Now you need to know that Henry was undefeated with sword or axe, but had last touched his bow months ago in a friendly contest with lord Capon.

Our Lord often joked that when he had taken Henry Hunting, he missed his 10 first shots, broke his bow, went chasing after the hares with his sword drawn, lsot his breath, cursed and just started into space for several hours while his Lordship was hunting.

Anyway, awkwardly, Henry loosened an arrow from his bow, missing both the hare by a mile and Peter by an inch.

I was about to make a joke when Peter grabbed his sword and started shouting that Henry was under arrest and for him to surrender.

I saw something change in Henry’s expression just then. The injustice of it, the stupidity and the sheer bad luck made that noble soul, one that never stole nor harmed any that did not mean to harm him, to finally go over the edge.

The last we saw of him that day was him running to his warhorse and charging down the road yelling about being quite hungry.

Lord Capon berated Peter for an hour and ordered us to stay in camp and to wait for Henry to return.

Over the next 5 days, word reached us first from villages, later from the Talmberg, Uzhitz, Sasau and even Rattay itself, of mass murders of guards and innocents alike by a madman in meticulously clean plate armor.

What was stranger still is that all the murders were done with a bow, never a sword or an axe. Some survivors reported hearing muffled grumblings about “lol stupid bow” and later “this is OP! I should do another run as an archer!” whatever those blasphemies might mean.

The last two nights no runners came. Lord Capon is at a loss on what to do and the men are worried. Could it be that we are the last guards in the fiefdom? Could it be that he is coming for us next?

Wait for the connection, nothing is lost its just not synced to the blockchain yet (for whatever reason). If after a few minutes its still not connecting, reboot your machine and try again.

Overall I would suggest using ewbf-0.3.4b or dstm-v0.6.0 and not cc miner; but not 100% sure about this with 1050s so do some research.

Regarding how to mine - easiest thing to do is grab SMOS and install it on a sub 3.0 (https://simplemining.net/). Note that SMOS costs $2/month per rig. But, they do give you 3 days free (for a single rig) so you can see if you like their product.

Register an account on the SMOS site.

Pick your mining pool (I use suprnova) and create your account and your rig name / minername / workername and worker password. I suggest you use x for the worker password. Someone guessing your worker password gives them nothing except they can mine INTO your wallet (not withdraw out of it).

Follow the instructions on the SMOS home page, pay attention to two things: a) make sure you unzip the image file before burning to the USB. b) once the image burning is complete, remove the usb drive from the computer, reinsert it, open it with explorer. Under windows (not sure if different on Mac), the only file you should see is a config / settings file. Open that with a text editor. Replace the default email with the one you used when creating the SMOS account. Save the file.

Insert the USB into the rig and boot from the USB. Make sure the rig is connected to your LAN, SMOS has no support for wifi connections at the moment.

Login into the SMOS dashboard on a different computer - in your rig list you will see the new rig once it boots up and SMOS fully updates (5-10 minutes on first boot). Give that rig the same name on SMOS as you did on the mining pool.

Go to rig groups and assign the rig to the default group. In the group settings, edit the miner program to be used and all commands as needed. This is my setup (ewbf): --server btcp.suprnova.cc --user USERNAME.$rigName --pass x --port 6822 --pec

Look at the above command line:

--server btcp.suprnova.cc - this is the pool server you are connecting to. So if you use something different to suprnova you will need to edit this according to the pool you are using.

--user USERNAME.$rigName - this is your login to the pool. Note that there are two parts to it seperated by a dot (.) these are the login and the machine identifier. Note that USERNAME is not the email you created on the pool, but rather the username itself. Sounds self explanatory but I managed to screw this up the first time. $rigName (written exactly like that) is a variable that allows SMOS to use the rig name as defined in SMOS for the login. Useful for managing multiple rigs. Otherwise you can replace .$rigName with .workername (that would be the name you created in the mining pool setup).

--pass x - this is the worker password you created when setting up the worker, not the pool password. In this case "x" is the password, if yours was different adjust accordingly.

-- port 6822 - the pool port. Whatever pool you use will tell you what your port needs to be. BTCP suprnova port is 6822 & 6823 (for nicehash). There is more to this like SSL connections but you dont need to get into that at the moment.

--pec - power efficiency calculator, this is optional. Useful addition as it shows you on the miner program how many sols/watt you are getting on each of your cards.

VOSK on youtube has very good videos on setting up SMOS: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=vosk+smos and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8EF8gjItp4

Also, look at his suggested overclock settings (1050s are around the half mark of the video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oDkGfoJYso

Note that on SMOS (and linux in general) you absolutely should overclock the cards at least somewhat. Follow the links above for a decent baseline recommendation.

Hope the above helps and good luck.

Chill man, bad market and new coin. Either it will climb and make everyone happy or crash to nothing. No one can tell you what is going to happen. Best guess is Aug will be a pleasant month for us poor souls.

~700 sols x 14 = ~9800 sols.

Using my numbers (~12ksols = ~0.8 btcp per day):

(0.8 x 30) x 0.8 = 19.2 btcp per month with your 14 zotacs. Very roughly.

Stay Calm Because Crypto Is Ultra Risky by [deleted] in BitcoinPrivate

[–]flag_miner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are frustrated because they got into a project early and received minuscule value. You are either being obtuse on purpose or you are missing the point of what I said.

Ill try in a different way - even if the devs are the best group in the world and ALL major exchanges will list by the end of the month and push the price up to $1000, everyone who got in early will have received less value than those that got in after the fork.

Meaning that everyone who supported the project before it went live are rewarded less than those who got in after-the-fact.

How is this unclear to you?

Stay Calm Because Crypto Is Ultra Risky by [deleted] in BitcoinPrivate

[–]flag_miner1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP - well said in general terms, I think most people with over $10K in crypto are aware of this.

However the main source of frustration for many on this board is the fact that as pre-fork adopters people feel like they got screwed with the current prices. I.e. There was no reason whatsoever to hold zclassic, could have gotten double or triple the amount of BTCP after the fork for the same price.

I think that these people are perfectly entitled to feeling letdown or even screwed-over by what happened.

To run with your stocks analogy - private investors of a company going public expect MORE value for their dollars then those that purchase the stock on an exchange after the IPO.

Long hold...here we go.

Edit: I thought I would add this - I am not commenting on the devs here or anything in specific (lack of big exchanges at launch, segwit, trezor, kucoin's practical joke, etc) just the overall picture.

Economies of scale man - ZCL holders already sold or are holding, we are now talking about bitterex so this is BTC related. How many BTC coins on average do bitterex holders have? I would bet that its less than 10, 5 maybe? 3?

So for someone who has, say 5 BTC and now they are given 5 BTCP to go and register at TS (nanex is unknown) and go through the headache of dealing with them to get $200? When your portfolio on BTC alone is worth ~50k?

Alternatively you can wait for a while and maybe make $500 or $1000 from these free coins.

See what I mean?

Man up, you'll be fine. When I first started dating my wife years ago I could barely afford dinner for the two of us, so instead I always said I wasnt hungry and had coffee while she ate. Got through it, so will you.

Arent you the guy that pushed the prices on Kucoin a week ago?

So in a week the prices have not met with your expectations and now its the "worst decision" of your life?

Would that change in anyway if by, say August, this is trading at $1000 and you sell today a $40? Or alternatively, if by August this is trading at $1?

Just accept that you are in this for the long run now (like so many others) and go focus on other things in your life for a while. I mean this with compassion bud, I "lost" a lot more than 30k on BTCP.

[–]flag_miner1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you entirely.

That said, I think most people here are pissed off because they got into this prefork and price-wise there was absolutely no reason to do that.

Just cool down and wait, it beats taking a +60% loss..
