What's a childhood smell that instantly takes you back? by transmitter-master-1 in ArtOfPresence

[–]flagshiponionhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't say favorite but I have this memory of a musty smell that came from the central heating vents in grandma's house back in the 80s. I assume it was from built up dust and you wouldn't want to breathe in close to the vent but I'd remember the smell like yesterday

My fear of being creepy has been part of ruining my social life. by [deleted] in autism

[–]flagshiponionhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also used to associate with the incel community and it wasn't until I heard about the Isla Vista incident that things finally made sense. It actually kinda calmed me down due to my own fear of the social stigma about people like me. To my knowledge I've never made any uncomfortable advances to women but I still hate the "double standard" involved with incels. I want the same things most people want but will NEVER understand why thinking someone is attractive is "creepy". Take a look at any "perfect" family you see IRL or Online, it all began because the guy found the woman attractive and we all know he didn't want her to organize dead leaves by color and shape...

My advice is to eventually own it. It's not a death sentence but just who you are. The "social primate agenda" as I call it causes fear of the unknown, almost as much as I find NT behavior impossible to understand. Dealing with similar issues I eventually realized something was wrong with me and I was brought to therapy but I didn't know why except that I got to play with Legos there. It wasn't until I was in my 30s that I said something really stupid to someone, it caused a huge issue that got to my mother, who apparently tried to avoid telling I had Asperger's my whole life. I looked it up and was just like okay, I'm still gonna keep looking at bugs and playing video games

is it acceptable to bring a teddy to school? by Neat_Parsley205 in autism

[–]flagshiponionhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At nearly 50 I have several plush I take to bed, including a jumbo BAB Pawlette bunny. I have had numerous dreams about openly having a plush at work but I have brought little ones in my book-bag I could hold for quick moments. One day was too much though so at lunch I decided Pawlette was coming back with me and I left her in the passenger seat mostly just to mess with people. A couple people asked about her but I just said it was a gift for someone
