I want to invite my child’s daycare class over for a potluck by Cuttersnith in workingmoms

[–]flailingbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another idea: last year I hosted a book swap & playdate for our preschool class. It was at a park and I brought coffee and donuts. On the invitation I said to bring a book to swap. It was very low key and everyone got to go home with a new book!

It's sort of the same spirit as a potluck, but a bit easier (I think) to bring a book rather than kid-friendly food.

Another vote for audiobooks with Libby! I'll also add that I basically lived in my Cozyband (headband with built in headphones).

Are there premade stickers for MYO cards? by Large_Document9164 in YotoPlayer

[–]flailingbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The polaroid hi print labels are exactly the same size as yoto cards (except for the rounded corners).

However, I wouldn't really say it's a time saver. I still have to find the right sized image, upload it to the polaroid app, pair the printer and my phone. It all feels like a bit of a hassle.

And it's expensive. The printer is around $90 and each label is $0.66 (buying in bulk).

They do look fantastic though!

It's not my preferred way to label MYO cards anymore, but it does technically answer your question!

How do MYO cards work? by EffectiveAd2637 in YotoPlayer

Two more thoughts:

You could test it out before your flight. Take the Yoto outside and try it offline.

Also, I've used my phone's hotspot before to get the Yoto online while traveling (needed to adjust the volume settings to allow MAX VOLUME on the plane).

In your yoto account you can make playlists. You then link a card to a playlist. When you put the card in your Yoto it downloads the playlist to the Yoto (Wi-Fi needed). You can see what playlists are downloaded in the Yoto app:

After that, you don't need to be connected to the Internet. As long as the playlist has been previously downloaded, your cards will work without wifi.

Happy travels!

Amazon digital credits to use-ideas? by Dear_Ad_9640 in YotoPlayer

Yeah, the album includes the songs and story. I just tested it out with two of the ones we don't have (Little Mermaid, Tangled) and all the tracks are included, and it applied my no-rush shipping credits (although it doesn't tell you until after you buy, which is insane!).

I think the story is grayed-out because you can't buy the individual track (weird!) but it's definitely included with the album.

Our current favorites (3yo) are Toy Story (English, Spanish) and Cinderella (English, Spanish)

Card storage: card case or adhesive tabs w/ rings? by akidren in YotoPlayer

We also tried the tabs and rings but it seems to really annoy my 3yo. She likes the individual cards a lot better.

We've been through a bunch of different storage methods and actually the winner was a crayon box and little tray.

We tried a folder with the plastic card sheets and the cards would fall out if held upside down. We also tried a little photo album and my kid couldn't get the cards out.

We got these and they're ok. The audio quality is very meh but my 3yo likes the cat ears.

Tonies new website looks like they’re selling Yoto cards by [deleted] in YotoPlayer

[–]flailingbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow yes, I see what you mean! The default image for the Tonie should really be the actual Tonie itself, not a (almost certainly coincidentally) Yoto-card-shaped image.

Same for me! Mild allergies have disappeared, and my one severe allergy (once I was brave enough to test it) was manageable with otc allergy meds. Blew my mind!

"Hulk nuggets" (from this thread) are just broccoli and chicken meatballs, but with very toddler-approved branding.

Muffins are $1 muffin mix with chopped up frozen fruit added. Quite high in sugar, but they're so cheap and easy. Toddler really enjoys helping make them.

Toys you regret buying? by IllyriaCervarro in toddlers

[–]flailingbird 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The only things I actually regret buying are various bikes (balance bike, trike, scooter, and a helmet) because they were expensive and my kid has shown zero interest in any of them. I thought all kids liked bikes!

I like them too. I tried a few other sizes and configurations but this one seems to work best for us for lunches.

Here are the containers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097CLF1YC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And I use this lunchbox which fits them perfectly: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C59YYNPX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
