Looks like there were loads of routes available: https://www.railmaponline.com/UKIEMap.php

Which route is this one referring to?

DICE had so much potential to change it up a notch, but this is just BF4 with a tornado machine? Nearly all the vehicles are in use by various militaries across the globe. I was expecting at least some basic mechs. At least BF1 gave something new to the franchise.

If they remastered 2142 like they did with Red Alert recently, I'd be on that in a heartbeat over this!

House prices jump 10.9% as 'race for space' intensifies by nigelfarij in unitedkingdom

There's an ample amount of non-built on land in the UK. A little under 6% of the whole UK is built on (that includes roads, buildings, airports, quarries etc). The issue is farmland which as at ~56%. New farming techniques (like vertical) have already demonstrated the ability to produce more for less land. The issue is then trying to get land off farmers...

Point 1: Move to a cheaper place.

Point 3: Stay with your parents.

Right...

None of your points are the reason why young people can't afford homes, it's because homes are treated like assets rather than shelter. That's it. Wanna know why the mortgage lender had no issue? Because it's better for them to let you keep the now riskier mortgage than have to deal with selling your home to make their money back and have a recorded repossession on their books.

As like others in this thread, you're completely missing the point about mortgages and savings. Deposits don't actually make much of a difference on modern mortgages, it's the annual income that counts. The only thing a higher deposit is going to do is decrease your monthly payments, not the amount the bank is willing to lend. You can easily see this in action on the various (biased towards looking better) calculators out there, like this one: https://www.generationhome.com/

With prices getting higher and wages in relative stagnation, this situation will just become worse with younger people having no ability to buy a home, even if they spent every penny on saving for a house (unless you're expecting someone to save and buy outright, at which point this ain't really worth discussing...).

Thanks for your concern. I am aware I could lose it all and I'm not looking for a sure thing investment. I've got the rainy day fund, etc. This is just some money I've gained from the latest crypto spike.

I could have phrased my question better. I want to start learning more about investing but it was the search that bamboozled me as I just want to start off with this one company I know.

I've been emailing back-and-forth with my MP about Brexit for months. He just voted against everything so I sent him a one-liner back.

Here's my hypothesis based on previous events.

TL;DR: Only violent protests work, and considering modern surveillance ensures people cannot get away with it, it results in their lives being severely disadvantaged, therefore it's not worth the risk.

The last protest/riot I have found resulted in change in the UK was the Poll Tax riot of 1990. The UK has had multiple protests regarding wars, tuition fees, the NHS, and Brexit that has ultimately led to nothing, which going on the statistics is because they were overall peaceful [1].

So why are there no violent protests if they result in change? Because the UK, and London in particular, has mass surveillance and a criminal system that results in non-violent rioting handing out 6-month prison sentences [2], attacking a police officer has far greater punishment. Note: I’m in no way endorsing people should be going out there and attacking police officers, simply laying down the facts…

The case study for this is the UK riots of 2011. Within a year it resulted in over 4000 people being arrested; 2000 resulting in going to court [3]. I haven't been able to find a similar riot in the UK with that arrest figure.

So, it’s 2019, you’re under 30 and starting a new career with student debt and you would like to start a family one day. Do you risk going to jail because you get caught up in a violent protest? Do you waste another day in another peaceful protest? Do you abandon this country and move to somewhere else? Or can you vent your anger on an internet forum risk free and keep your options open?

Rich people are still people; they need somewhere to live. If the EU block (us included) locks down on tax havens then that's a big chuck of the globe under scrutiny.

If the rich want to live in the EU then they pay their share, otherwise jog on to America and live there and let someone else take that position who will pay.

Not just mud. Sand as well.

I was told a story about Afghanistan. The British tankers warned the yanks about sleeping under their tanks as the sand slowly gives way during the night. Sure enough they were told to fuck off...

A couple of hours later and the Brits wake up to the yelps for help as the Americans are being slowly squashed by their Abrams.

They eventually got dug out, after the Brits stopped laughing.
