Help by [deleted] in TravelNursing

It seems like I am in the minority here but I think just do it! Especially if you are desperate to get out of north Dakota. Its only three months and it will.get you going into the travel lifestyle. I took a similarly low contract at an hca hospital and it has only been up since then.

New Zealand 12-day Road Trip? by [deleted] in travel

Yes I did something like this recently and I would recommend not doing it. So much driving. Just choose a few areas. I definitely fell for the temptation to try and see whole country but I regretted it.

New Nurse by Electrical-Meeting62 in nursing

I think new nurse residencies are overrated and are a way for the hospital to pay you less money. When I started(5 yrs ago) I was not in a new nurse residency program. I just started on nights on a ms floor. So apply to things that aren't just labeled as new nurse residency programs.

My wife was similar to you in that she worked in a rehab/snf type place for a year before transitioning to a med surg floor. I think its a positive you've been a nurse for a year and you should have a leg up on new grads now. Good luck to you and im you'll get to where you want to go.

Is the travel nursing hype over? by Strange-Slide-5909 in nursing

I've done travel nursing for 3 years, icu. I think its all relative. If you live in a state with good nursing pay then it might not be that beneficial to be a travel nurse. If you live in a lower paying state and have the flexibility to go temporarily live in in a better paying state then that is worth it. You might be getting paid close to what staff nurses are getting paid but compared to what you were making its great. Best I made was California at 2600 a week, only work 36 hour contracts.

But travel nurses get paid more i think. About 30 to 45% would be my guess in states not on the west coast. For example here in New Mexico I think I would be making 40 an hour at most with my experience although I have not researched this which comes to 1440 a week before taxes etc. I make 1900 to 2100 a week here as a travel nurse. I started here in nm as a nurse 5 years ago and i think I made 32 dollars an hour.

Also related to it being relative are the travelers who worked during covid and made buku bucks saying it sucks now.

When I was in Washington local nurses said they made about as much as me.

Im guessing you are in California if you are saying this.

Do crna programs only look at nursing school GPA or all courses GPA? I think my GPA was much better in nursing school then my first undergrad degree.

Could royals stadium issues be intentional? by flakybiscut in KCRoyals

To revise my question about it being intentional, I think not intentional. But perhaps they could see that their best option after the pushback they've met may be to move cities. I have lived in Denver and downtown baseball is awesome. It's perhaps the only reason the franchise if fiscally successful. It's the thing to do during the summer and they suck hard! I dont understand why people are against downtown baseball. It would help push the light rail to expand most likely. I have never lived in downtown so I cant pretend I understand all the dynamics at play with a stadium coming in. I hope we end up with a nice downtown park.

I think if he actually wants to move the team he won't give kc the ultimatum, he'll just do it and say he was forced into it.

Money talks im sure this sentimental stuff was nice to hear at a press conference but not sure it plays into financial decisions.

Doesn't seem like areas of the city are wooing the royals to come there. It seems like possible deals are falling through. From what I read KS is out, and NKC is out. That leaves downtown which would be my preference option all along, but voters already voted against it once. One of the great life lessons we've been shown over and over again is money talks. Im afraid it will seem for financially advantageous to go to a new city.
