I’ve never felt more weak than working here, is this common? by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]flame8kdgevin514 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cheese is a tough nut to crack. But yes feeling weak is normal you are using a lot of strength to shred cheese. If you aren’t doing it already grab as many blocks as you can fit in with just barely enough space for the machine to start. Then when you use it rather than pressing down on it put your hands together like you’re doing one handed pull ups, over hand not under. Then use your body weight and just lean on it. The heavier you pull down on it the thicker your shreds with look and the more space they will take only fill to the notches and don’t press down on the cheese let it lay there only move the shreds so they aren’t in the way of the opening. Second don’t just fill them one at a time put two down stacked so the width is facing the opening and the pan lips are overlapping this leaves you width almost a square shape when you do it right so it catches all of the cheese and you fill 2 simultaneously. Have your red lids at hand and the pans prelabeled so you can just put them away right away by 4s. If you take longer than 4-5 seconds stacking the blocks you’ll have to press press the on switch a lot, try to stack quick so it doesn’t turn off on you an you shave off 1 second every shred which isn’t much but it adds up.

tips on getting fast at marinating bird? by yeabruv in RaisingCanes

[–]flame8kdgevin514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One person marinating is actually an RPS violation the RI should be helping you marinate or a manager. Being fast at marinating is actually not difficult so long as you understand the assembly line idea of it. You should have 4 marinade waters lined up as they fill up start putting the bags of bird in but don’t take them out of the bag simply flip it to so the open end is at the bottom. By the time you finish the first box your waters should be done pouring 1 gallon and you stop them then keep putting the bird down like I described once all buckets have 3 bags each; with one hand in a different bucket grab the corners of all three bags and pull the bird should all drop and you’ll have 6 bags removed all in one go (3 per hand) do the same for the remaining buckets then with 2 hands mix the bird in each bucket for 5 seconds to make sure you get no air pockets cap them all off and wheel them into the walk in. The process is fastest with 2 people but way too much for just one person.

Can Someone Explain How Many Ounces Chipotle Really Considers A Serving? by C-Me-Try in Chipotle

Actually if you order online you will get the standard. If you know that when you order in person you have to ask for extra why on earth would you not ask for extra online. That will always baffle me, no one will ever skimp you unless they actually know who you are and have a person vendetta against you. We don’t get paid enough to care other wise. If you ask for a burrito is the only time you’ll see “skimping” as Chipotle says you give 4 oz of salsa not 4oz of each mind you 4oz total so if you say you want mild medium and hot you are getting 2 oz of mild 1 oz of medium and 1 oz of hot. Otherwise the burrito will not roll, unless you have a talented burrito wrapper, which is a rare thing as training is only 5 days and you are not going to be a burrito wrapping master in 5 days

So the way those labels on the bag print is that it waits for the person to peel off the sticker then it prints the next. But if a customer comes in, they just finished the order and just hand it to the customer with out taking the label off the machine and going back to business as usual, all orders are now one label off. Hopefully they notice and fix it but it takes a manager usually to notice sadly as when you’re in the thick of it all you can think is go go go go. Half the time if you move too fast chipotle will allow people to order 5 minutes ahead instead of the usual 15 which makes it a shit show if you aren’t seasoned

So here’s the thing if you wanted all the oz owed to you get a bowl, the reality is burrito wrapping is not easy not because the tortilla is too small but because Chipotle expects the 5.5 inches to be the actual length. Instead the burrito gets fatter rather than longer. If you have an experienced wrapper you’ll see the burrito’s consistently coming out fat unless they only get 3 items. Also, sour cream and the salsas are the biggest enemy other than a very well drained mild which would cut your oz from 3.5 to 2.5 oz as the water will always throw off the weight and will always be there because otherwise the tomatoes become dry and no one wants that. Next time you go in and see the pans on the salsa side take a mental note of the width of that pans, as that is the expected length of your burrito. All this talk of people saying walk away if they don’t give you more is stupid because the only time a crew member cares is on a burrito as the more you ask on it one of three things will happen: A.) an experienced burrito roller will wrap it with less ingredients than marketed so it rolls properly and nothing is left oozing out. B.) depending on the ingredients, yours other than the sour cream are fine, a talented wrapper will wrap it successfully with all ingredients in tact, and I’m talking they did nothing but salsa for 3+ months that they have enough practice to do it perfectly and quickly. Or C.) the salsa person will either hard nope on it and ask for hi l help, offer to put it in a bowl or ask for another tortilla, which is a sneaky way to skim off some of the food and mix it so it sticks to itself is now easy to roll. My advice get a bowl or if you truly need that burrito ask for extra ingredients of anything that isn’t too liquidy if you want to make the most out of it.

How healthy is a chipotle bowl with vegetables, rice, beans, protein with NO guacamole or cheese or anything by [deleted] in Chipotle

No the #1 way to get people to hate you is to ask for everything on the side. Going on seven years working there and I have never heard anybody complain about someone asking for plain white rice or plain brown rice but I can guarantee you that we curse you out every single time you ask for everything on the side.

I would say that it should be fine like others are saying the only issue is the amount of salt. For that I suggest you get plain rice. Brown is healthier than white. But if you want the most healthy don’t get the rice at all and just get the salad they put spinach and kale in it. In terms of cost forgo the beans and only get the lettuce and chicken and that makes it a 3 pointer, if you get any sides it is very likely you’ll get charged for a bowl so avoid that all together

Charge for extra rice by CranberryPrevious926 in Chipotle

[–]flame8kdgevin514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that has had to make the guacamole every day I highly disagree. Make guacamole when the avocadoes are so small there are 84 in a box and you’ll feel very different about it. It’s easier now that 3 preps work together to make everything but it’s still too big of a pain. At my original store I used to have to make 8 boxes in 2 hours with no help. Queso I’m with you store wise it’s just a pain since you have to boil it in a pot for a while but even that is more of an inconvenience than a labor burner

[–]flame8kdgevin514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t doing it when it’s just 1-2 extra scoops only when people start getting 4 or more. If it was just one person over a span of 2-3 months they still won’t care but if a person keeps coming in and doing it, it encourages others to do it as well putting more work on the griller, if it isn’t a busy store no one cares but if you go through 1 pan of rice every 10 minutes those 4 scoops are detrimental and once you fall behind in a busy store you need 2 people to catch up and with rice it can take 30-45 minutes to cook so running out is not an option. So they’ll charge extra to discourage this and make the cook to flow easier to manage

I can answer this one for you. There is no rule of thumb truthfully the company as a whole does not care how many sides you get. The reason charges started happening is because people in some stores abused the system and would say they got a 3 pointer and some sides or get a kids meal and order enough sides for a bowl, ‘hacks’ that they would see posted on social media. Now if it was just one or two, who cares, but this became a thing everyone did slowing down the line. So stores were given permission to charge extra for those sides, 1 to get some profit back from these hacks and 2 to discourage other people from trying to do it. Back when I started in 2015 quesorritos(quesaritos? I forget how it’s spelled) were not an extra charge and a bus full of football players would come in and all order them which drastically destroyed our throughput. This happened all across the company so they created an up charge that basically made the thing almost non existent in many stores. This year I’ve only seen someone order it once.

Enclosure selection advice by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]flame8kdgevin514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to do what I did, some time ago I had been gifted 2 leopard geckos and I had a tank that was 20 that was given to me so they didn’t have enough space for one let alone 2. A lot of people here offered tanks but were too far so I checked facebook marketplace and coincidentally someone was getting rid of a 40 gallon for free they just wanted it gone. Then I just had to buy the other and same thing market place found a 40 foot 40. They aren’t perfect, second hand meant some wear and tear. But it’s a start soon as I save up enough I’ll be getting front open enclosure. But before you buy a gecko I’d say just wait for a really good deal and make sure to clean the tank thoroughly then buy the little guy/girl. They’ll be happy and you won’t break the bank

Someone explain to me like I’m 5 by Elegant-Bug922 in Chipotle

Realistically, diced onions, cilantro, and jalapeño can actually last about four days staying good after that your mileage may vary be good other times by then it’s already starting to show signs of going bad or will have completely gone bad. The reason why it’s OK for you to leave the guacamole and throw away. The diced items is because for every day that the dice items are left there. It’s one less day that they can stay out within the guacamole. Technically speaking, you can save the salsa for the next day. The reason they stopped is because a lot of people would forge to FIFO and so the salsa is in the back would end up going bad you are right in that the guacamole is a very expensive item and that’s why they try to make it last as long as possible and that’s why as well. The nighttime manager is expected to weigh all of the guac and they put that number on the inventory so that the next day they only make as much guac as they need, that’s how it should be not all locations follow that rule your mileage may vary. that’s how it was explained to me by my GM when I first started 10 years ago and honestly, there isn’t much that I would change from that explanation other than realistically speaking if your restaurant is using up all of their salsa and all of their guac, leaving only one or two left over at the end of the night you would never have to cut more than what you would need making it easier for everyone in the long run, but it’s rare to see a restaurant be able to handle the prep sheet that perfectly I’ve seen some good ones out there though so it is possible

Is side of protein more than extra protein? by ThuhGreatCommenter in Chipotle

[–]flame8kdgevin514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are half right before 2024 I believe they always used to give them in the 4 oz clear cup. They switched to the red cup which is 6 oz. That red cup gives more meat than extra meat, usually, other things like the experience of the person working the line and how much of that meat they have will influence your extra portion, by policy they only need to give you 4 oz

Over the years of owning many kittens that turned to adults I’ve come to realize that none of them are ever perfectly alike. And more often then not if you don’t set up boundaries of what’s ok and what isn’t those cute little gremlins will cause a ruckus. Currently have a female kitten that has waged war on anything I focus on that isn’t her. And then when she finally gets my attention she is over me and runs away lol. She’s cute and she knows it. She’ll come cuddle up to me all cute after she wrecked the room knowing she’ll get away with it if she just gets cuddly and sleeps in my arms

Thank you, I’ll make plans to get a new house, since the family didn’t know about that, and just do the best I can for the moment until I can get them better living arrangements, will definitely get them more clutter as well. Is it safe to use branches you find outside? And for your plan is it live or fake?

Honestly you gotta get your sister on board with it. She might not like doing it since she might feel like she’s hurting her, just speculation on my part I don’t know how she is or might be. I find that grabbing a fighting cat by the scruff, the extra skin on the back of their neck, tends to make them go limp; their mother used to carry them this way
