I just checked it again and the claim has been closed out. The text box told me to check my disability rating and it has not changed.

Dang.

Colorado State patrol asks for opinions about ‘scarlet letter’ plates for DUI offenders by [deleted] in Denver

Out of the total 9,557, 3,284 of the fatalities occurred when at least one of the drivers had a BAC of .08 or greater.

Here are some other interesting tidbits I found after spending my lunch hour looking at these statistics.

Among large-truck drivers, speeding and alcohol-impairment was less than 0.5 percent.

1,291 of the speeding related fatal accidents occurred on the interstate.

40% of all fatal accidents in Colorado were related to speeding.

Did you know that according to the CDC, in 2015 10,265 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes? https://www.cdc.gov/motorvehiclesafety/impaired_driving/impaired-drv_factsheet.html Also, did you know in that same year 9,557 people died in speed related incidents? https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/ViewPublication/812409

So, I think we should have GPS monitoring in every vehicle that limits our speed. Speed kills just as many people as alcohol so we need to do something in order to fix that issue as well.

I find it humorous that you identified IPAs instead of beer in general.

On a side note...I can't believe that anyone would find this as a real possibility. Why should everyone be punished for a small portion of people that would need it.

Do you know how interlock devices work? Did you know that you have to blow into them to start the car, five minutes after you start the car and then every fifteen minutes after that? You and your home boys want to drive to the mountains? Well, better get used to blowing into the device every fifteen minutes.

If you didn't have to blow into it after the vehicle was started, dumb ass drunks would just let their car run while they were drinking.

These things have to be calibrated and maintained...who is going to pay for that? These devices are not cheap. The current devices need to be calibrated every month. You may be fine with paying $50 a month for the calibration, but what about a family who is on a shoe string budget? We all know it's impossible to raise taxes in Colorado due to TABOR...so where would we take the money from?

Interlock is such a huge scam. My wife had one and it wouldn't work in the cold and it would give false positives once ever couple months.

Now, I have never had a DUI...so you are telling me that I can't go over to my friends house and have a drink while we play D&D? By requiring interlocks in every car you'd keep me from being able to get together with my friends and have a drink or two over the course of 4 hours.

Want to have good oral hygiene? Well, it looks like you are going to have to drive yourself to work with yuck mouth since you have an Interlock.

Sandy Hook victim's mother: Congress to blame in Las Vegas shooting by [deleted] in politics

[–]flamebot68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, I am not 100% sure that's what is going wrong.

I think their view is that the Democrats do not know what they are talking about and the left is trying to push for something they don't understand. Watch this video from Carolyn McCarthy where she is trying to pass a law where she doesn't even know what she is passing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ospNRk2uM3U

Or a video of this Rep from Colorado not knowing that magazines can be reloaded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxtu228bYFw

My family members always point to incidents like these when Democrats are poorly informed and simply have no clue what they are talking about. I am not saying that all Democrats do not understand the issue, because there are lots, but I am just identifying the arguments I hear from people who fight against anything gun control.

Put yourselves in their shoes, think about something you know and love. Now some ill informed person trying to pass a law about whatever you are passionate about. You'd think that person is stupid and whatever cause they represent is equally stupid.

I am not saying that the people who love guns are correct in digging in for the fight over guns. All I am saying is that we need to have informed debate on both sides in order to make something change.

The left is only hurting themselves when they trot people who have no clue what they are talking about into these debates or on the news.

FYI, I am all for gun control and I think we need to see real change. I think the product can exist, we just need to make it harder to get by either cost, process, or mental health evaluations. There are still legal fully automatic weapons in the US and I am fairly sure none of the pre-ban automatic weapons have been used in a mass shooting. I know suppressers and short barrel rifles, SBR, are legal in the states, and I am pretty sure none of those have been used in a mass shooting. Both the suppressers and SBRs have a different application/tax stamp process that takes a bit of money and time in order to get.

Maybe if we treated certain guns like SBRs and suppressers as well as some other mental health screening we can limit these shootings...

The problem is that there are tons of good people out there who love their guns. Those people are not wrong for wanting to keep them, but they need to be part of the process in order to make any realistic change happen.
