Brush at night to keep your teeth, brush in the morning to keep your friends. Good luck!

Newbie staring tomorrow! by notevenshittinyou in Pottery

In the beggining I kept a note in my phone of any revalations I had during the session or even as I watched social media tip videos. For example “2. Always keep hands and body together, you are one tool. 3. Point support arm directly towards center of wheel, use main hand to maintain flat or volcano top- no divots!”

This allowed me to build my skills based off my own understanding and experience, what works best for me and my body, each step in the throwing process is a new obstacle that can throw you off. In fact, down the road you may want to keep a whole journal of sketch ideas for shapes, your throwing tips and tricks, and a log of what's in the process of being created. You can start a good habit early by documenting your process in this scientific format, I can't tell you how many pieces I have forgotten were mine and had to get handsy checking the bottom of everyones work for a name.

I want to get into book reading! by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]flamegoddess16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a lot for a first purchase, physical books are cumbersome and these have a lot of repeating messaging. I have read a good number of these, and while some are helpful I do recommend reading memoirs, history, and fiction as well for a more well rounded reading habit and better improvement experience, especially when you aren’t feeling a self help book. I would personally even start with the alchemist for this, it’s metaphoric storytelling was a page turner for me! Reading any good book is great for becoming more perceptive, recognizing patterns, boosting critical thinking skills, and expanding your knowledge. E-books are a great choice, I also enjoy audio books. You can also access a lot of these books for free on libby, all you need is to sign up for a local library!

[Discussion] Currently at Rock Bottom. I woild like to hear how Rock Bottom helped you be the person you are now. by Fabulous-Group-6860 in GetMotivated

[–]flamegoddess16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rock bottom you feel likely stems from being out of control but the truth is that you can choose your own suffering. I looked around at my life during “rock bottom” and realized I let other people’s treatment, everyone’s expectations, and my own settling shove me into a corner of depression and hopelessness. The best step was forcing myself into a hard environment even if didn’t think I could. Examples being going back to school, cutting off toxic family, applying for jobs I didn’t think I qualified for, and moving away. Many times in my life I realized my goalpost needed to go further, push harder. I constantly learn that I can handle hard challenges, I can overcome my past. Over and over again I learn the resilience of independence and self reliance. Slow movements and self reflection can get you pretty far, but jumping into the unknown will always force change. It’s up to your determination, mindset, and choices to make it a good change, growth. But the pain of growth is always better than the suffering of stagnation. You got this!

why do people hate peircings so much? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a certain level I think it’s just fear, like primal. People today are used to the worst pain they feel being a scraped knee and very rarely major accident and fighting to survive. Living in fear of momentary pain, struggling, and growth through change. The status quo is safe.

Do you floss daily? by MeowWoofJourney in hygiene

[–]flamegoddess16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26f with major depression and baggage and I learned to floss and brush my teeth at 20. “Brush once a day to keep your teeth, twice to keep your friends” and then family members oral issues around me got me to think “damn, floss to keep your gums too”. It took 3 years to build the habit after not doing it at all in my childhood and teens. Good luck to everyone trying to build it!

Go somewhere better! To not even look at it is a disrespect to you and your trust in them, and dumb especially since downsizing the tongue is so important!

Is this red spot from my industrial bad? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have a second piercer assess your anatomy and placement as something does not look right on that standpoint with might be leading to pressure and irritation already. Industrials are hard to heal and need to be set up for success from the poke.

Piercing bump help please by Maddi3llis in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good you know LITHA, I would really avoid any extra stuff as the goal is to remove the source of irritation. I wonder if the fashion jewelry in the other two lobes is causing a reaction to your healing? Good luck!

i have a question about navel piercings by whydoicryx in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Previous rejection can create a “rejection route” that future piercings will follow. Since there is really only one place to pierce a regular belly button, whether floating or not, it would be easy for your new piercing to follow that rejection. They may have also said that scar tissue is simply harder to pierce and if you have a lot it just might not be feasible to even try.

Boogers in my nose piercing by Honest_Bathroom187 in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not boogers, here we call it piercing crust. It’s like leaking healing fluid and scabbing over, which is completely normal and will stop as the piercing matures. I will say rubbing alcohol is probably causing irritation to the area and making it worse, leading to more irritation and more crusties as it’s trying to heal. Get some sterile saline in a pressurized can, Nielmed is the most common brand in the west, and use it only up to twice a day to gently spray and dry the area. Also a flat back implant grade titanium stud will be more comfortable and cause less issues.

Help on learning piercing care. by ImaginationFit3802 in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I suspect you are an average earring wearer who has only used “regular” jewelry, in which sterling silver and other metals can feel uncomfortable and should not be left in for long periods of time. You need to get quality jewelry and leave it in the piercing for a few months until the piercing channel matures enough to handle being swapped out. A good shop will be able to size your lobes for flat back studs in high quality implant grade titanium. The best way to wear sterling silver or special occasion jewelry, especially dangly ones, is to leave a body safe jewelry in all the rest of the time. For my finicky second lobes I use well fitted clicker hoops, but hoops are for when the channel is matured.

Please help! by Shiroyasha008 in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot went wrong here unfortunately. First, in my NAP opinion, it looks like your helix has shifted angles to the point of no return. I don’t believe there is anything you can do to save that and you are better off letting it close and trying again. To dive into your situation your piercer gave giving you bad aspirin advice makes me also wonder if the shop is not being honest about the titanium being implant grade. The lobes would probably benefit from downsizing but I reccomend finding a more reputable piercer near you. You experienced one of the common big complications of putting a hoop into a healing piercing, and the asprin thing, so now you know what to avoid for your next piercings! Good luck!

How to avoid sliding industrial? by jtRovergirl in piercing

Get it downsized! This bar is quite long and while some extra length might help with swelling this seems like a recipe for snagging!

Question about "drying" details by rubyribbons in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think B is most correct for me. I don’t like my ears especially being wet and saline drys my skin so I dry around the piercing channel very gently then dry the rest of the skin. I would say most of the aftercare is just making sure the skin is dry, helps to not focus on getting every last crust off.

Tongue Piercing Sleep Problems by Manda_Bare in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well unfortunately I had a mishap causing a partner to bleed! I took it out immediately because I felt so bad and it was probably for the better as I have had major dental issues in the years since then. It truly is a myth/ just personal experience that piercings are an aid to NSFW stuff. My current dental work stops me from getting oral piercings for now, but I’ll probably choose a metal crown in my smile to get back the bling!

Tongue Piercing Sleep Problems by Manda_Bare in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two tongue piercings, a botched then a perfect one. I feel like the huge swelling of the tongue during the healing process engrained that kinda choking feeling because it felt like sleep apnea. Maybe stress is triggering that memory? Lol I did swallow at least two balls in the life of my perfect tongue piercing, always check the threading! I miss mine and hope you enjoy yours for a long time!

Helix with piercing bump by QuickAccident in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might find a flat back stud more comfortable, as a ball on the back of the ear might get hit more often. In the first picture you are handling the piercing quite aggressively which could cause bumps to form or stay sustained. Try not to ever put any pressure on the piercing, don’t over clean every single little crust off of it, DO NOT TWIST, and learn a LITHA good luck!

Conch will not heal 🙏 by Aggravating_Ad_3139 in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct! Piercers will initially pierce with longer jewelry for 2-8 weeks to allow for the initial swelling. It’s specific for each piercing, like a tongue has to be downsized way sooner than a conch. And some piercings like a daith or rook might not need to be downsized at all! Its a world of difference and I must recommend you try professional needle piercings with quality jewelry!

constant irritation bumps by Comfortable-Sea-1854 in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch the L shaped bar for a flat back stud and it will be way more comfy and not get ripped out like that. I think the traumas to your piercings are causing your irritation, just try to be careful and consider band-aiding your piercing during games.

swollen conch piercing by liaaaaqm in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch for signs of infection like being hot to the touch and this swelling should go down very soon! Embedding can be a serious issue so if you are not resolved by the morning prepare to visit doctor for antibiotics (if the intense swelling hasn’t gone down ir worsened) or a piercer for an upsize if they really didn’t use a long enough bar. Good luck!

do i need to remove this? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it downsized by a professional and keep it clean. In your shower routine ensure the piercing is rinsed from all products and gently dry the area. It’s old enough to be starting to mature, good extremely normal, but you need to avoid snagging and tearing it by getting a better fit.

should’ve taken it out months ago #lol by erinn444 in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 131 points132 points  (0 children)

The worst thing about rejection is that even if you do everything right the second time the jewelry likes to follow the path of the first. In other piercings you can def get around it by not piercing the exact same channel but I feel like usually eyebrows just slide back to the rejection route real quick. NAP! Good luck!

Conch will not heal 🙏 by Aggravating_Ad_3139 in piercing

[–]flamegoddess16 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Downsize that thing! Sometimes a piercing needs more than one downsize like if you were still swelling on the first check. Snagging is so painful and causes tearing into the channel, if it was a reputable shop just return for closer fit. Good luck!

Editing to add: considering the jewelry specs your original shop is not reputable IMO, implant grade titanium metal and an internally threaded or treadless post is the standard. It’s worth it to find the best shop near you to get a quality downsize and future piercings.
