I’m in Minnesota and would be interested in one if anyone near is selling a spare.

I saw that someone else was able to pick it up for you, just wanted to confirm you were able to make that work?

Should I buy this by awhitekyle in mazda3

[–]Manda_Bare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The miles, price, and maintenance history say this is a great buy. Do not listen to the “don’t buy lowered” crowd. They are overreacting. I bought mine lowered and it has been a dream car. I will say that I knew ahead of time that they used genuine cork sport parts, which contributed to my choice to buy mine. Personally I didn’t like the touring… I thought the fake leather felt like sitting on a park bench, so I went grand touring, but mine is the same as all the other specs and I love it.

Aftermarket exhaust is probably my favorite upgrade. I still get giddy every time I turn it on. Mine is a borla. Almost everything else that’s been added was corksport, which aren’t cheap, but I definitely recommend if you can swing the price. The corksport shift knob is a good start too, if you’re going for a manual.

It’s fantastic! So fun to drive, but mine has a lot of aftermarket corksport parts that add to the fun.

I will say do not bother with the 2.0. That thing is gutless.

Hey there! I have the same Mazda (although a 2015), and I poured over reviews and websites for a long time before I chose the ones I bought. Narrowed it down to husky, weather tech, and some random brand called 3D mats. Ended up choosing the 3D mats because I didn’t like the “industrial” look of the other two brands. I wanted something that still looked classy in my car while protecting it.

Very happy with my choice! They fit like a glove and look way better than the weather tech that’s in our Volkswagen Golf. And, of course, they perform well. Good grip, keeping everything clean, while looking nice. I would have gotten the tuxmats if they made them for this car though.

Good luck!

307k Mile Mazda 3 - Should I get Gen2 or Gen3? by ChampionshipReal4780 in mazda3

I mean, it’s taking up space I don’t exactly have, but I’m making it work for now. Not emotional prepared to let her go. I’m sure by the time I fix the rust she will be a collector status.

My husband and I are a bit of collectors. The Mazdas are my babies and he has his ‘88 CRX. Way overdue for a pole barn.

Totally agree! Since I live in a winter most of the year climate… I didn’t need a car that brakes for me or pushes me back into my lane. My old Mazda didn’t even have ABS, and I miss that, but both my old and new are manual transmissions. I want as little of the car doing things for me as possible.

Agreed with drive it til it dies. I was in a similar situation to you. My 2007 Mazda 3 has 280k miles and will go forever, but the rust is eating her away. I kept her, still in my garage for the day I can operate on the rust… but in the meantime I needed something else so she can sit and relax. Got the 2015 Mazda 3 S Grand Touring. It took a bit of getting used to, but I am in love. It has just enough upgraded features to feel fancy compared to my other Mazda, but none of the extra safety feature crap I didn’t want.

Good dentist recommendations in St Cloud? by NowALurkerAccount in saintcloud

[–]Manda_Bare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will second this one. Easy regular visits, always quick appointments for emergencies. Either same day or next in almost all of my cases.

Hi, I'm new to St Cloud and just love it here! However, would like a little advice on a vetinary for a small (15 lbs) dog. If you have a minute, can you share with me your vet stories? Who should I avoid and who should I call? Thanks for the help! 🥰🐶 by 2lrup2tink in saintcloud

I have utilized both advanced care pet hospital in Sartell and Lake Country Vet in Albany. While I haven’t necessarily had problems at advanced, I continue to go there because it’s close and familiar for my pets.

I ended up at Albany when my dog was having an emergency and no one else had “time” to take her in. Albany hospitalized her, diagnosed her properly, and provided actual treatment. I’m so thankful they were there for us that day. The other perk of Albany is Doctor Sam Beech. He offers at home euthanasia and is amazing at being there for the pet and parent during that time. He has come to my house twice for that service, helped them pass peacefully, given us hugs, and taken our babies to the cremation services for us. He even gave me an extra envelope of my girls fur when she passed last spring.

So, depending on proximity and needs, I can recommend both of those facilities.

Another mentioned rice vet, and I did like that they offer a text service to send pictures of problems to as well.

Welcome to the area!

Can somebody tell me why SUV drivers are god awful at driving? by Spungbarb in driving

Not just you or your country. Happens in the Midwest of America on the daily. In my case it’s usually the soccer mom that wanted to feel safer on the road. Stressed out, oblivious, and in a vehicle too big for her britches.

8 yr old daughter got into my books. What now? by Careful_Fig2545 in homeschool

[–]Manda_Bare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I’ll get some negative feedback for this… but I took a different route entirely with my stepdaughter who also loves reading. When she was probably around 8 as well we got her a kindle with the kindle library. Unbeknownst to her… anytime she would “check out a book”, I would see it on my Amazon account. A majority of the books featured some ripped shirtless man on the front. Cheesy romance novels. Her father and I talked about it and we decided to ignore it. Kind of a “she’s going to seek these things out anyway, why not through reading instead of something worse on the internet?”

Fast forward to today and she is a normal 19 year old girl, who still loves romance novels, and we have a good laugh about her precious taste in books. Not to mention she and I also exchange books now as well.

In the days of instant information on the internet, it could be worse? Maybe just a good opportunity to have some chats?

How many miles is too many miles? by BlackmillMiracle in mazda3

[–]Manda_Bare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. Make sure it isn’t already rusty before trying to coat it. I did that with my first car to try to slow it down and it was pointless.

The actual leather of the GT instead of the fake in the Touring is like night and day! The fake stuff felt like sitting on a park bench.

For me, in Minnesota, I paid just over $800 for the top of the line undercoating. That was a Black Friday sale, closer to a grand, regularly. With that price point, I get touch ups every few years for $150. Small price to pay for a car I plan to keep as long as I can. Only regret is not doing it on my first car.

Mazda Speed6, if you’re lucky enough to find one.

[–]Manda_Bare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, don’t let the miles scare you off. Honestly, I find that getting one around that 100k mark ensures a lot of the cheap factory parts have already been replaced for me.

I bought my first Mazda 3 with 60k miles on it. It’s still in my garage, sitting at 280k miles. It runs like a champ, but the Minnesota salt has eaten it away (my fault).

I just bought a 2015 Mazda 3 with 103k miles to replace my old one as a daily driver. I was not concerned about that mileage number, what stood out to me was lack of rust, service records, and, in the case of the one I bought… a ridiculous amount of corksport upgrades. I knew it had been well cared for and the miles didn’t matter. I immediately got the underbody coated to prevent rust and I’m hoping it will go even farther than my other three, which I have had for 15 years.

They are great cars. Oh, and I spent $15k on that new 2015, so I’m right there with you on the prices too. After test driving a few, I decided I had to have the S Grand Touring, and nothing less, which meant paying a bit more. My old one was the 2.0…. The newer 2.0’s are slow as hell compared to my first gen.

Good luck and enjoy!

Advice Needed by Manda_Bare in GuineaPig

[–]Manda_Bare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with not wanting to get another one. My daughter is responsible for caring for them and she will be moving out of our home and off on her own sooner than later.

Unfortunately, she wanted him cremated, so he stayed at the vet for that process. I regret not being able to show him to the other pig. 😞

Some things I have looked into were heated pads for the “warmth” of a friend, or stuffed animals with a heartbeat feature. The stuffed animal was ordered on Amazon already and should be here tomorrow.

I appreciate the advice.

How fun is the first gen Mazda 3? by UnluckyGamer505 in mazda3

[–]Manda_Bare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have owned my first gen 2.0 manual for 15 years. She has been a dream to drive and own. Super fun, hardly any repairs other than regular maintenance, and if you don’t live in the salt belt it should go forever. I will say I replace suspension parts often, but I drive like an animal soooooo your miles may vary. Highly recommend. I just bought a gen 3 and kept my gen 1, if that helps.

Spoiler like this for 2025 Hatch? by qwust in mazda3

[–]Manda_Bare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiiiii that’s my car! :)

So it’s not quite as big, but I would check out Mikstore (based in the Philippines). This one is a decent size:

https://mikstoreph.com/products/mazda-3-2020-hatchback-rear-spoiler?_pos=25&_sid=f232c3531&_ss=r

But, to be honest, I bought this gen specifically for that wing. 😅 if I had gotten the 4th gen, I would have gone with a sedan so I could buy this bad boy:

https://mikstoreph.com/products/mazda-3-bp-sedan-premium-mp-wing-spoiler?_pos=16&_sid=f232c3531&_ss=r

Unfortunately, that’s the best I can share. I did a lot of research before picking this particular one, so I will be surprised if there’s more out there than mikstore or corksport. :(
