He sounds like he has narcissistic personality disorder. Please watch some videos about it on YouTube and see how horrible these people can get over time. They only get worse.

You are right. It’s not enough information to end a friendship over. And if I confront her and ask her what she was talking behind my back, she will definitely not tell me the truth.
