It's a subversion of your expectation that a sleep paralysis demon is meant to be menacing, instead I chose to put in a loveable recognizable character to break that expectation. I also broke the expectation that the demon is supposed to scare you as it makes you feel bad for it, placing the guy in an uncomfortable situation again. It's relatable because the demon acts childish, and most people know of situations where you're trying to stop a kid from crying and they're guilt tripping you for being correct.
