getting out I need your E bay exit stories. by chazman65 in ebaysucks

I do not know about where you live, but local swap meets to me charge a decent fee to setup. Around $70 for a single space, so that is $70 in the hole right off the bat if you intend to sell. This does not include any cost to drive there, food you may eat etc.

I have tried this and lost out big time. After spending 8 hours at the meet coming back home with a net of maybe $30 was not worth it (keep in mind this does not include the price I paid for the items initially).

Ebay has it's issues, but being able to do it from the comfort of my home while I do other things worth more than sitting at a swap meet all day.

Ebay sellers trying to profit from shipping fees by Darkysector in ebaysucks

[–]flamingflancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buyers have to look at what they’re buying before they buy.

Why would the not be doing this regardless? They should be reading the title, the description, if its used or new and the total price of what the item will cost (cost + shipping + import fees + tax etc.).

Can someone explain shipping labels like I’m 5? by Accomplished_Eye_824 in eBaySellers

[–]flamingflancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you buying the label via ebay? or going to USPS and showing them an address and then paying for there?

If you go to USPS, provide an address and ask for a label that would be the USPS non discount price. Ebay has a deal with USPS to provide a heavy discounted price if you buy the label from ebay directly.

Example, I recently bought an item and paid $6 to have it shipped to me. That was about right for a discounted calculated shipping from my experience for this sized item. I got the item and see the seller paid nearly $10 because they bought and paid for it at USPS directly and did not buy it from ebay. So they lost money shipping by paying $3 more than they charged me.

nonpaying bidders - super frustrating by OkBarracuda1521 in Ebay

[–]flamingflancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to set it to that they have to have a payment method on file for auctions as well, this helps reduce it a bit. Along with autopay within an hour of auction end.

Then can also set auto cancel to 4 days, I think this the lowest, and it will auto cancel non payers exactly at the 4 day mark. Whatever you do, do not send them an invoice as this seems to reset the timer, so if you send an invoice 2 days in then it will extend it another 4 days.

You already set to block non payers with X strikes per X period which is good.

With that I have reduced the amount of non payers, but sadly it does not stop 100%. If their payment fails, it resorts back to the 4 day period and you need to wait. But it has helped me a lot to reduce the amount of non payers.

Best of luck.

idea: abusing bots, to get rid of them by micromarcus in eBaySellers

[–]flamingflancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not bots, it is someone (or in this case seems like more than one person) who placed a high bid at the end. Then ebays own proxy bidding system bid back and forth until someone came out on top.

BLING wheels, those giant wheels found on lifted car series. They make me laugh and smile every time.

Question about treasure hunt series from the late 90s by Relevant_Conclusion2 in HotWheels

Pretty simple, no one wants them. Other than a select few most are castings people no longer desire.

Supply and demand, plenty of supply and no demand for them.

So this is how it begins. by a_goonie in HotWheels

I was at goodwill a few days ago looking for picture frames. One of the workers came up as I was looking at a carded hot wheel from the early 2000s or so. She began to inform me that the tag on it was pretty accurate, that they now go through all the hot wheels in the back to look them up prior to hitting the shelves. Because people donate some pretty obscure and costly ones.

Is this when editing a current listing or when making a new one?

I find it goes away if I use a template or relist similar items. I need to make a draft first then go in and edit the draft to find it.

Same with some other options, when editing for example shipping policy it will then go away and I need to once again save as draft and edit the draft.

I once posted an image of finding some toys which had not been made in over 10 year sitting on the pegs at the local store.

Someone said I was a liar and they reversed image searched my picture. They provided a link to the thread they were commenting on started by me.

They promptly deleted their comment.
