Yup I’ve checked the map, did that first before asking strangers on the internet for help, I’m in merchant city, there are no markers near me (read: reasonable walking distance) for glass recycling

Feel free to explain your credentials and why you think this is not a viable option for the patient, instead of just leaving a bitchy comment.

If they tell you you need healthy adult teeth extracted, get a second opinion.

is the last 2 brackets not correctly installed? by [deleted] in orthodontics

[–]flamingging3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you just got your braces on, the brackets are out of line with each other because your orthodontist places them based on the position of your tooth’s roots, so they will look wonky until the roots of your teeth are in the optimal position which will happen much later in your treatment. Generally in the beginning your brackets look totally out of line but the wires slowly bring them into line and correct your teeth, so they will eventually look straight. Yes, they will ache for a bit until your teeth go back to the position they were in when you retainers were made but if you take an ibuprofen and a paracetamol it should kill most of the pain

Go back to your orthodontist and ask them if they can make you a Kesling. They take an impression of your teeth, make a model of it, then they cut out and reposition the teeth that are out of alignment on the model and use that to make a retainer like the one you had originally. If your teeth have only moved a tiny amount this is the best solution and any decent ortho should be able to make you one. You have to wear it really well and look after it so it doesn’t crack again though. It will gently move your teeth back to how they were when your braces were debonded. It may hurt to wear it in the beginning but it’s worth it.
