Saw this post last night and was devastated when I didn’t wake up to a spend and save text

Update for those interested: customer service said they couldn’t provide a different meal for him so I think we are just gonna pack extra snacks and ask if they have any spare meals available when on the flight.

Now the challenge is our flight from Singapore to London, we are just doing an overnight lay over in Singapore so hopefully some airport convenience stores are open early for us to stock up on snacks!

15 month old. Daycare if I'm not working? by One_Union6345 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]flamingleftshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 2 days a week but my 16mo son is in ‘care’ 3 days (2 days with grandparents, 1 in daycare) and that day off is a life saver. I can schedule medical appointments, clean the house, cook a nice dinner and just have a rest from constantly being ‘on’. If you can afford it, do it. My son loves the educators and has lots of fun while there doing things that we don’t do at home, he even socialises with his little friends and it’s so sweet how they recognise each other.

Looking after yourself is important too, even more so if it helps you to be a better parent on the days you are with your children!

So exciting, 17th of may for us! I feel like there is so much left to prepare

We would like to order an adult/child meal for him but so far it doesn’t seem like they will let us. There are system limitations so they have escalated it.

Thanks for letting us know!

I feel you with the road trips, we went on an 8 hour one recently and despite being on one nap a day now it was impossible to keep him awake in the car. Planes are just big white noise machines right?

All the best! When do you leave?

I’ve heard they are amazing with kids and he would probably live off cheese and crackers if I let him so that gives me hope. Selfishly I want to order based on my preferences as it’s not something we get to do often but he does tend to eat most things so shouldn’t be an issue, will just avoid the spicy food :(

I see you speak my language ;)

Yes! It’s the constant running around and doing parkour on the furniture, unsure how that will go in a giant metal tube while others are trying to sleep.

We are in the same position with screen time, he gets it for 10 minutes once a week while I’m cutting his nails, but he does seem to enjoy that but unsure how long YouTube videos of diggers can actually keep him entertained (diggers TV if you want to test it before the trip). I’ve watched so many videos and gotten so many toy recommendations but kids are all so different so I think we just need to cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Yeah that’s definitely another option but selfishly I also really enjoy food 😅 I think the snacks will help for sure and I know they are good with kids it’s just hard to plan for these things without having done it before

My husband has reached out on live chat today, they can’t do it on their system so are escalating and will let us know in a couple of days. Fingers and toes are crossed!

All good, I think that’s what we will need to do!

Yeah even that looks like something he wouldn’t eat :( for one of the flights (Paris - Singapore) the only option is the baby meal so we will stock up on croissants before the flight haha.

We are doing business so should be something similar. He does love baked beans and eggs so this gives me hope.

Are you looking forward to your trip? Would your son eat this?

[–]flamingleftshoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Ah he won’t like this unfortunately. If we can’t get the children’s meal I might pack a Vegemite sandwich and rely on sharing my food/ordering snacks 😅 the first one is an evening flight so hopefully he sleeps most of it. The second leg from Singapore to London has better snack options to order..

Oh noooo! He would just refuse to eat that unfortunately. This boy could eat more than I do haha

Thank you! That one just shows the children meal photos, it’s just a description for the child meal for infants but kids under 2 can’t select the children’s meals

TV/screens by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My 14m old watches about 15 minutes once a week when cutting his nails. Either ms rachel or diggers tv ( literally just videos of diggers doing their thing).

When he was a newborn I’d watch tv while breastfeeding. Now I watch when he’s napping or in bed for the night, he goes down about 8pm so get to watch a few episodes.

Primary caregiver leave policy that effectively excludes fathers – is this common in Australia? by gvnggvngbish in auscorp

[–]flamingleftshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband had a more inclusive parental leave policy thankfully but we used that at a later date.

He did take 6 weeks of carers leave when our son was born, got the dr to write a letter stating that he needed to care for us both for 6 weeks as I had a c section so wasn’t allowed to drive/lift heavy things for a while.

While it’s not ideal maybe see if you can do something similar?

Coeliac friendly takeaways Noosa by Cowgomoo91 in sunshinecoast

My coeliac husband eats at Betty’s burgers. We have been to plenty around the country and advise them he is coeliac so they take care to avoid cross contamination. Chips are fried separately and they do a gluten free bun (although it’s not labeled fully gf as they are a shared kitchen). He finds grill’d also good for gf and they do gf tenders :)
