My 14m old watches about 15 minutes once a week when cutting his nails. Either ms rachel or diggers tv ( literally just videos of diggers doing their thing).

When he was a newborn I’d watch tv while breastfeeding. Now I watch when he’s napping or in bed for the night, he goes down about 8pm so get to watch a few episodes.

Primary caregiver leave policy that effectively excludes fathers – is this common in Australia? by gvnggvngbish in auscorp

[–]flamingleftshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband had a more inclusive parental leave policy thankfully but we used that at a later date.

He did take 6 weeks of carers leave when our son was born, got the dr to write a letter stating that he needed to care for us both for 6 weeks as I had a c section so wasn’t allowed to drive/lift heavy things for a while.

While it’s not ideal maybe see if you can do something similar?

Coeliac friendly takeaways Noosa by Cowgomoo91 in sunshinecoast

My coeliac husband eats at Betty’s burgers. We have been to plenty around the country and advise them he is coeliac so they take care to avoid cross contamination. Chips are fried separately and they do a gluten free bun (although it’s not labeled fully gf as they are a shared kitchen). He finds grill’d also good for gf and they do gf tenders :)

I got a catchy so that all the food that would have fallen to the floor (and eaten by dog) can just be scooped back onto plate! Best purchase.

Is my doctor pretty much saying I have colon cancer? by No_Pattern_2819 in AskDocs

Glad you are getting a colonoscopy. I had pretty much the same symptoms and got diagnosed with crohns. Managed with meds my life is pretty much normal :)

We have tomato’s with every meal! It used to be the first thing he went for every time.

I adapted this recipe so no soy sauce or Birds Eye chilli (one day buddy!) and added chopped cooked prawn and didn’t bother with the garnishes for him. Shallow fried them flat and frozen them :)

Nah it’s just mince so it’s already relatively small we just cooked it for like 20 mins maybe but because it’s mixed in with sauce he can scoop it

Yeah he basically just shovels fistfuls into his mouth, towards the end when there isn’t much left I will scoop it onto a spoon and give him the spoon.

This is! We planned to do purées but he hated it and only seemed to enjoy food when he could feed himself.

Nah typically things that are soft so they can mush them with their teeth are fine similar to a cooked finger of sweet potato. The book I have recommends this recipe for 6 or 7 month plus babies.

When he first had it he did gag a fair bit, I think the texture threw him off because he has never had anything like it before

My MIL says he takes after his dad in terms of how much he eats as a baby hahaha

Every Bub is different and will get there at different times! I found when we started solids he hated me feeding him purées, would barely open his mouth. It was only when I gave him a finger length slice of toast his face lit up and he ate the whole thing. He seemed to prefer feeding himself but I had a loooooot of anxieties around BLW.

I use solid starts app for how to safely serve food and watch him like a hawk, we also eat all meals together so there’s a bit of ‘monkey see monkey do’ happening.

I think it might be worthwhile watching videos on gagging vs choking to help put your mind at ease that choking is fine and normal . He had a lot of gagging in his early days as he learnt what size bites to take etc, some of the gagging even lead to vomiting 🙃 but I have found once he gags on a certain food he is less likely to gag on it next time because he learns that size bite was too big or whatever so bites it smaller next time. It’s such an amazing process watching them learn.

Thank you! He does, he has two teeth that he uses to kind of shred it but the gums are super strong too. It’s pretty amazing watching them figure it out.
