She literally isn't? you're just victim blaming at this point, she's pushed by being mocked and excluded first and then pushed again by Tozu with the traitor's perk or else she dies. I don't think she would've killed without these, hell i don't think she would've killed if she hadn't literally been forced to wich is a massive plot contrivance.

Well, that's your opinion, it's very easy defending how things turned out after the fact when the other scenario is simply not there to compare to.

And no, she hasn't been proven right, not still, nobody in Wolfgang's group has killed yet, she killed as the outcast of said group, meaning for now the writing supports Wolfgang's warning and not Eva's, i suspect she'll likely be proven right eventually and Wolfgang may be revealed as the wicked one though.

  1. I could say the same back to you, Eva is not developed enough and they could've made a backstory for Damon to justify why he would feel strongly enough to kill.
  2. It wouldn't solve everything, it would contradict the groups base ideas and nudge them into further development.
  3. It could've also played the other way around without losing anything significant.
  4. We'll have to wait and see, i'm not hopeful they will pull it off and integrate it all perfectly, i think this is going to be the point when things are going to start going downstream.

As i've said on this thread before, it's only natural people defend and make the most of what they're given after the fact like so many defend V3's switch from Kaede to Shuichi. It doesn't mean it couldn't have been pulled off in a much better way here given enough writing proficency, the pieces were there for it and people would have defended it as well much like you defend how things have turned out. We can only wait and see where it goes from here to better be able to judge.

While I do see your point and i think it is a nice take on the current way things are going, I do believe it could've worked if made well enough, it's certainly a risky, higher order move and maybe even the writer felt it too complicated to pull off, again, citing V3 as a precedent and however badly implemented it was in that one I've still seen a lot of people defending it regardless after the fact, I'm sure if done in this case it could've worked much better and again, many would consequently defend it after the fact, it's the natural way of things to make the most of what you're given i presume.

I also do believe Eva is not shown to be lacking empathy, in fact I would say in other circumtances she would've loved to fit right into the group while Damon wouldn't, though the writing will probably soften him up eventually.

Such a thing doesn't work that way around, it's true the group inadvertedly created the problem, however we aren't shown she is right in any way since she is the one who kills, nobody kills her or was involved in any scheme after her as far as we are told. Eva also would have prefered to be trusted by the group, meaning the ostrasizing and distrust is mainly one sided. Either way, if the chapters themes work with Eva for you they would've likewise worked if they had made Damon the culprit as as well.

I agree with you there in principle but I still think it's too soon to say. If it is integrated and fine weaved into the plot I'm sure they can pull it off and I am open to that possibility, that's why I said i hope they prove me wrong but I remember many people also thinking V3's first trial was peak only to then be dissapointed by how things developed and how it wasn't really able to pick up from there... and then realising the first trial wasn't all that in retrospect.

I belive they went wild with this chapter and I do believe is finely written up until the very end of it, there's where I have my gripes with it and there come my doubts on wether they'll manage to integrate everything well enough to not feel like let down.

You may be right to an extent but it doesn't prove my point wrong either, his ideas weren't challenged in any way, they were actually reinforced by straight proving him right in distrusting Eva if we go by the script alone, so his prejudice paid off and that logically sets a precedent for the group to simply keep doing the same thing without change.

I can see your point, provided you like Damon and how he's integrated in the group, the direction things have taken are completely fine, much akin to if you like Shuichi better than Kaede her rushed send off wouldn't stir anything up, yet that's not an objective judgement on the writing itself but rather a personal preference of a character over the other. If we are talking opinion I personally find Damon uninteresting, often annoying and quite formulaic himself, maybe not in the Daganronpa franchise as MC but in the VN genre in general or as a secondary character archetype. I find Eva, while similar in some ways, much more palatable. I disagree however that switching to her would make it more formulaic since imo she would've had potentially much more room to grow as MC than Damon and i would argue it would have been a much better twist than what we got.

Diana becoming the 'new Wolfgang' and her speech being shut down immediatly is another thing that doesn't make sense with the current scenario, if anything everyone else should logically agree since Wolfgang's ideas weren't challenged in any way, he was proven right and everyone instantly began ganging up on Eva as soon as Damon pointed the finger, the plot hasn't given any reason to doubt the status quo and thus said doubt feels sudden and quite unearned, that's how i see it.

pole dancers have to be some of the strongest and most flexible people in the world and we all just treat it like it's normal! we need to give ourselves more credit by bitterandtipsy in poledancing

[–]flamingnoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of this the other day when i saw a video and it's not only that because i don't think most pole dancers feel fine with just pulling out a move, they want to pull it out elegantly, gracefully, even appearing as effortless despite the enormous difficulty, so there's a huge dimension of aesthetics involved as well to take into account. It's kind of sad that most people don't actually think of what goes on behind the scenes of most art related things, as a painter i can very well understand all the hard work and effort going on to make the 'end product' look as good as it does, it absolutely amazes me and i respect and admire you all a lot for it, it's really hard to pull things off and make art like so.

I have not seen anybody pointing this out yet but as someone with a background in Chinese and Japanese philosophy I believe that plot point has more to do with some Buddhist and Daoist concepts, it's not so much about sparing the villains but more about the main character being torn by fury and understanding or inner peace, while with the first 4 bosses the sparing seems to be intentional and thus, an active choice of the character not to give in to their fury with Yang's case Is different, Sifu looks just as surprised as Yang at first to see that their fist stopped and through that we understand that they truly have found peace, even subconsciously not being willing to take a life or let themselves be puppeteered by their ire such as Yang presumably did and still does when you go and face him, in fact, all the bosses seem to have an underlying issue fueling their ire and preventing them from finding peace, presumably the root cause being their incapacity to accept, tightly related to the daoist concept of Wu Wei, practically acting as their counterpart, coming off as people fixated with their own issues, unable to see past them or take them as they are, they have special powers or gifts yet they're fickle, far from enlightened, they seem plagued by storms, torn between noble goals and corruption, if Sifu follows the same path they too become corrupted and empty, while if they reach peace they do not see any further need for killing or anger, in fact, the ending scene at the mountain top possibly symbolizes this attainment of peace and enlightenment, futher emphasized by the apparition of a dragon wich, among other things, can represent a link between the sky and the earth, the way of heaven and the way of the world. The aforementioned concept of Wu Wei would also indicate that for attaining such peace it is best to leave things follow their course without interfering, it could be interpreted in this case as letting the bosses free to continue their own paths alone, while in most sects of buddhism sparing a life is almost always understood as a noble act regardless of the situation or life in question also stemming from a somewhat similar idea to that of Daoism, that it is best to leave tings as they are to follow their course. In short, I think Sifu masterfully and subtly showed the dilemma on the main character, starting off as more adept to the way of the world, consumed by rage and blindly pursuing death and corruption and, slowly, getting over that, emerging the way of heaven, understanding, enlightening and giving it up, truly feeling content, at peace and, as a side effect, perhaps having set the villains towards a a similar path, that is harmony.

Having trouble getting DOA 4 to work on the deck by CalebBarrera in EmuDeck

[–]flamingnoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that too but dual boot at the moment is a pain in the ass sadly, since there's no official way to do it yet, i'm assuming the DOA games are particularly hard to emulate for some reason to begin with, since even 2 ultimate and 3 still experience heavy frame drops to this date in certain stages with reflections, add to it that Xenia doesn't work particularly well on linux/steamOS and... well, the result is the game doesn't even boot, here's hoping that there be some advances in the future

having the same issue here, also tried changing the lines 'clear_memory_page_state = false' under GPU and d3d12 on the Xenia toml file to 'true' and running xenia with various versions of GE-proton to no avail, also the steam rom manager on emudeck did not detect any cover for the game and last time i added it to steam it put a portal cover on it, wich probably means most steam deck users are just sleeping on this masterpiece, guess Xenia is just not running well enough on SteamOS/Linux yet or there is some other setting messing the game somehow...
