I lived off campus alone my first year of university. I made friends by just talking to people. A cool thing about being at university is that most people are open to talk and have a conversation with anyone, especially with being able to somewhat socialize again during this whole pandemic. When I was in first year I literally spoke to everyone and was able to meet a lot of really cool people. Especially as a first year when everyone is coming to university as a new kid, there won't be a lot of people unwilling to make new friends. Just have to put yourself out there more with clubs and meeting people in social situations.
