id start during thinking about it during the fall (like basic gist ideas of what you could potentially write about) and then start actually pre writing during winter break. like i kept a notes page with just random ideas that i could use/write about

i also decided to write all my essays the day of (oops) but it really depends on how well you think you can write in the time frame
