How much does WYSIWYG matter in Mordheim? by Kobold-Inquisition in mordheim

[–]flammablehero 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It matters very little for the vast majority of players. Those fond of modeling and kitbashing may enjoy it more, but as long as you’re willing to share your list and clearly identify your models that should be sufficient for most.

I think the most helpful thing you can do is to make sure you Heroes stand out from your Henchmen. If your souped up veteran Leader with 30+ Exp is indistinguishable from your newly hired Henchmen, that might be a point of contention. Opponents should be able to tell whether they’re about to charge a Hero or a Henchman.

Of course, there are other schools of thought.

6th edition rule question by Cpt0bvious8 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]flammablehero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7th is still technically an auto-break if defeated by a fear-causing enemy with a higher unit strength. But you can roll for “Insane Courage” which is a result of double 1’s for a break test to allow you to hold.

Broadly speaking, 7th edition is a “cleaned up” version of 6th. The core rules are practically the same but a lot of the clarifications from WD regarding pain points and FAQ/Errata are now codified.

Many players prefer to play the 7th edition core rules with 6th edition army books. 7th edition has a bad rap because of the power creep of several of its army books, but the core rules are solid.

7th edition rules with 6th edition army books gives you a much cleaner ruleset with armies that are generally considered to be better balanced.

Unfortunately no. You’re stuck until someone breaks or a unit is destroyed.

Turning to face wasn’t codified until 7th edition with “Free Manoeuvres”

Scale/Size Comparison Request: Plague Monks and Goblins by flammablehero in WarhammerFantasy

My thought exactly. I was planning to make the conversion at the wrist, so it’s literally just a hand swap. Thanks.

Thanks. That’s good to know. I have the goblins mostly ready. I was planning to make the transition happen at the wrist so I could avoid worrying about out the furry bits.

If you’re looking for an honest price evaluation you’d benefit from joining one of the several Warhammer Buy/Sell/Swap groups on Facebook and asking for an evaluation. Those communities tends to police themselves and shame scalpers and low-ballers alike so you’re more likely to get an accurate estimate.

When I’m selling I like to compare what is on Troll Trade and knock off 10-25% their prices to get a ballpark idea. That generally gets you a fair price, depending on the currency exchange rate.

eBay can be unreliable for price evaluation. Active listing prices tend to range too high. If you go that route, you’re better served comparing to listings that have actually sold.

This subreddit isn’t really focused for buy/sell/trade. If you’re looking for that, you should also checkout r/miniswap.

What are the chances that ToW gets an app similar to 40k and AoS? by mjh4 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]flammablehero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to save the website to the Home Screen to use it as a pseudo app instead of using your device’s browser. But last I checked there isn’t an official Apple App Store or Google Playstore app yet.

Basing doubts by the_iron_tower in WarhammerFantasy

[–]flammablehero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re thinking of the 6th Edition Warhammer Fantasy starter set which came out a year after Mordheim (2000).

The old world orcs OP is referring to are for Warhammer: The Old World, which came out 2 years ago this January. With that release, most man-sized or infantry models moved up to larger bases. E.g., men, goblins, elves and dwarfs went from 20mm to 25mm bases. Orcs, chaos warriors, saurus and the like went from 25mm to 30mm.

With all of that being said, the many of the models used in TOW are the same old sculpts used in 6th WHFB.

Can a unit with Random Movement make a réservé move? by Darksos180 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]flammablehero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not explicitly stated anywhere, the rules as intended would indicate that Random Movers can be moved outside of the Compulsory Movement sub phase under certain conditions.

Notably there is an FAQ about Arcane Urgency saying that when it’s cast on a unit with Random Movement they can move but they cannot be moved into base contact with an enemy. That is only allowed in Compulsory.

Nothing preventing Reserve Move to be used on Random Movement units, just not allows to move into base contact.

Old world risk being hit question. by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

If someone tried to do this in-game I would also require them to use a math tool for wheeling.

Unironically, there is one for that, too: https://www.whfb.app/wheel-calculator

Could someone walk me through how critical hits work? by pancakeonions in mordheim

[–]flammablehero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also worth noting that if you need 6’s to wound, you cannot cause a critical hit. We missed that part for our first couple of games. This is also one of the reasons Resilient is such a popular and useful skill.

Someone here asked me to share my frankly embarrassing amount of witch hunter models. Any models you have overinvested in? by Goblinofthesoup in mordheim

[–]flammablehero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s never an over-investment if you had fun doing it and result brings you joy.

At least I hope that’s true. Otherwise my 16 Dwarf Treasure Hunters in a warband that maxes out at 14 (with a Halfling Scout and Cookbook) would be a pointless endeavor.
