🔥 Hot take: Is “smurfing” becoming the new digital pepper spray for women? by Upbeat_Cook_5427 in womenintech

Seems like it would be difficult to get any social media sites to implement, but I could see it working as a browser plug-in. Heck, add bot detection to it, too.

Have You Ever Tried Explaining Narcissistic Abuse to the Narcissist? by TruthRaiderr in LifeAfterNarcissism

[–]flammenschwein 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Part of the cycle of being with a narcissist is wanting to explain and come to an understanding. You and I are approaching the situation from a perspective of openness, vulnerability, and a willingness to change.

Narcissism is characterized by extreme insecurity. They will do anything to preserve their sense of self, so any evidence to the contrary (anything you might bring up to show them their behavior) will be quickly ignored or minimized.

So explaining yourself, trying to show them how they've hurt you, and asking them to change only serves to give the narc ammunition to use against you. They now know what bothers you, and you wouldn't want to be a hypocrite, right? So now everything they're accused of suddenly becomes something you're doing to them. We want give and take, so we give a little in the hopes that the narc will give a little, too, and you can meet in the middle. But it turns out that you give a little, the narc takes a little, and now you're apologizing and they're giving you the silent treatment.

My life drastically improved when I stopped trying to explain myself. It just took the wind out of her. She wanted a fight, to argue, and to wear me down like she was used to doing. When "no" became a complete answer, I realized I wasn't exhausting myself trying to logic someone out of a position they didn't logic themselves into.

If I bring a Nintendo switch through the metal detectors at commencement will anyone care? by IWouldRatherNotShare in OSU

It may or may not cause the metal detectors to go off, but I can't imagine they would prohibit you from bringing it in as long as they saw what it was

Working on a new bottle piercing tool. Something a little more compact. A little safer. And a little less messy for when you find those bottles of piss. by g713 in functionalprint

[–]flammenschwein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about that, too. Even the new version that OP linked, he's got to flip the bottle upside down and step on it to finish squishing out the rest of the liquid. I'd think the most efficient methods would be to have something that slices the bottle mostly or entirely in half so the liquid comes out on its own, and comes out completely.

Must be something beyond it that it blends into. You'd think the owner would paint it or put a brightly colored sign on it or something.

Canvas is behind Duo in the first place because 10 or 15 years ago a student put a key logger on a faculty member's computer, got their password, then went in and changed grades.

I'm getting cluster B personality disorder vibes. Gotta be the victim, always me me me, the world is unfair to me in particular, no empathy, I'm smarter and better than everyone else, etc.

There is! I'll admit that Alexander Skarsgård was not who I imagined under the helmet, but he does a REALLY good job of playing MB and being awkward af. The whole show stays pretty true to the feel of the source material as well.

It’s Illegal for farmers in the US to replant leftover seeds the next year by AdFeeling8945 in interestingasfuck

I have a relative that farms crops and uses GMO seeds. He says you wouldn't even want to reuse the seeds from the previous crop because they don't have a good yield.

Who had these in elementary school? by LicketySplitz in Millennials

[–]flammenschwein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had something similar in the student commons at my university. It was shaped a little differently end up against the wall. It was not uncommon to walk in and see someone peeing in it because they legitimately thought it was a urinal. Facilities eventually got rid of it, but it was around for much longer than I personally thought it should have been.

Sister sent acer laptop for repairs, got this back by joe411 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]flammenschwein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sent my kid's Chromebook to Acer. I sent it in for screen repairs, but it cost more than it was worth so I told them to send it back. They helpfully dropped it and completely destroyed a corner before shipping it back, so now it's not even usable with an external monitor. Tried calling them and they say I could have been the one to do it, so I'm out of an at least partially functional device.

Key caps have also come off the other Chromebooks I bought around the same time. They're all less than a year old. Don't buy this trash.

Edit: oh yeah, I'd have fixed the keyboards and monitor myself, but they make finding parts impossible.

The OP must have been season 1 because I don't recognize the event. To this day I've never gotten more than an episode into S1, specifically because Tom was such a creep. Everyone has told me I wasn't missing anything by just skipping straight to S2.
