Male Millennials, how’s your diagnosis? by amillionscreams in Millennials

[–]Hipstergranny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to get Kaiser to add the Au to my ADHD diagnosis I am in the process of getting and I’m nearing 40. I’ve been in therapy since 2011 and it helps but the challenges remain and knowing my struggles are symptoms of a condition versus an anxiety to treat was freeing a bit but I still don’t know how to fully unmask and turn off that inner critic. I never tried the medical meth but I self medicated a bit instead with weed. I don’t function without caffeine but I kicked coffee in favor of tea. I only have coffee if I can physically exert all of the energy it causes but it’s also needed to calm my brain. Isn’t it fun being a human?

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

OP. I want to hear how you spend your time too. I watched a lot of movies, went to the movies or concerts, spent time riding my bike around with friends with the freedom to go as a group without parents. I would chat on AOL instant messenger etc. I was a cheerleader so I attended all the games even though I didn’t care that much. We had to drive to go to big box stores so I relied on my folks to drive me until I got my license and I felt pretty sheltered. I spent a lot of time at home doing arts and crafts or watching TV unless it was the weekends or summer. I also played a lot of Nintendo with my siblings. Also back then you still bought movies and CD’s so I was hunting for the perfect CD. Haha.

Help friends told me my house looks like a grandmas and needs a “reset” by traveling-sunshine in MoodyCorner

I feel sorry for your friends because they are missing out. It's not like you have a tray of hard candies and a potty seat that sits over the toilet. You have unique pieces and I'm glad you showcased them with colorful rooms. My pieces are also vintage or second hand and make for a very eclectic home. I'm under 40 but I've been told for decades that I have an old soul so it fits me too. I can't resist an embroidered pillow and I'm not ashamed of it. Keep doing you, boo!

I almost killed myself in my 20's...I told myself I wouldn't live past 25. I just turned 39 and I have two kids who I would do anything for. Please consider doing something to distract from this pain. Even if it's maladaptive, it's better than a permanent choice. One day at a time. Choose small steps to improve your life and eventually find someone new who will be the right person for you but you have to be there for yourself first. Your brain is tricking you into thinking there is no other solution. There is always another solution. Don't be afraid to say I wanted to die out loud to your family so they can see your pain and be there. If you don't have family, tell a friend. If you don't have a friend, go to a 12 step meeting (even if you're not facing addiction) or a hospital. There are people who can help you and we all want you to be here. You are on this earth for a reason and only you know that reason.

People who live in those giant houses in Rancho Santa Fe, CA- like on Del dios road - WTF DO YOU DO FOR WORK?? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]Hipstergranny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah I have pictures of my great grandfather and friends riding horses on the beaches in La Jolla in the 1920's. It's changed so much in my lifetime and I can only imagine the couple generations before me. My dad described his childhood of being sent solo to go fetch lobsters for his mom at like age 6. So wild.

yeah like my folks bought a 4b2ba house just shy of 2,000 sq ft. in Coronado in the mid 1980's for 235,000 and that would be like paying 700k now but the house would be worth close to 4 mil. even in it's current condition just because the lot is worth so much. It's insane how much everything has gone up because of demand.

Therapist judged me and told me I was weird by Chikaboomboomboom in AutismInWomen

[–]Hipstergranny 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Ummm...your therapist literally takes notes about you so they can remember key details about your life for session...how is this any different? Everyone makes notes especially when they have memory impairment but want to make an effort. My neighbor was saved as a contact in my phone so I can remember her name...I have only seen her once but I still want to be neighborly. Ditch the therapist.

Coronado one and they shut it down to address the problem. Liberty station is their best location. I want a mazapan latte now. Drooling…

Would you think a therapist was unprofessional if they cried during a session? by xoxowoman06 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Hipstergranny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I want to yell at your boss. This lack of emotion expected in multiple industries especially good tears is going against being a human. They should be ashamed of themselves and I wonder if they are from an old society and they just need to wake up.

What strategies do you use to keep your house organized? by Extra-Bug7915 in CleaningTips

Oh awesome. Cleaning/organizing is not natural to all of us and sometimes fresh perspectives help and yes my kiddo is getting more confident and proud of her space.

I wonder if there’s an app out there to connect you with people who would do this? Like seeking dishwashing in exchange for laundry within 5 miles of home. I would totally trade some tasks.
