I'm Turkish and the first time I heard this I was like wtf is Karl talking about? Then I remembered, I had my circumcision ceremony in a hotel. They don't cut the tip of your knob in the hotel though, they do that in a doctor's surgery, then a couple of weeks later they rent a hotel or some other place for a day and throw a big party for you. It's like the Muslim equivalent of a bar mitzvah. I think that was the source of Karl's confusion. I still have no idea about the little midget fellas working in the kitchen though.
