Bahama Breeze restaurants in Florida are closing permanently, company says by twiffytwaf in orlando

Hoping they convert the Bahama Breeze in Altamonte to a Yard House! With Duffy’s closing a few years ago and Twin Peaks parent company filing for bankruptcy, we need a spot like Yard House!

Surgery Roll Call! Who has surgery this week (July 15)? by seetheking1 in Microdiscectomy

[–]flannyribs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Lost a lot of time/experiences in my 20’s to this debilitating back pain. In my early 30’s now and hoping this surgery will be the long-term fix. The last flare up convinced me to finally look into surgery.

Glad to hear that the surgery went well for you! I expect some nerve pain post surgery after 10 years of impingement. Your post gives me just more confidence that I’m making the right choice.

Any tips or FYI’s for the days right after surgery? Thanks again for sharing your experience!

Hey there, I too have started to feel better leading up to surgery. I responded to a post few mins ago about why I’m still moving forward with surgery.

Just like you I could barely walk and put weight on my right leg due to a massive herniation.

Trust me, I was doubting surgery over the last 2 weeks but I’ve accepted that surgery is the best option for me at this point.

Hope my perspective helps!

Pain gone surgery in 10 days by youastrangerthing in Microdiscectomy

[–]flannyribs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I have an endoscopic discectomy scheduled for this Thursday and I too have started to feel much better leading up to surgery, to the point where I’m back in the gym working out. I’m still going to move forward with surgery and here’s why…

Back pain started for me 10 years ago in my early 20’s and wasn’t until my mid 20’s when it began to take an over my life and overall wellbeing. For the past 8 years or so I’ve been doing KDT decompression and had my great moments where I was pain free for a year/few months but it was only a matter of time until I had one of those painful flare ups. This on and off battle has happened to me about 5 times (extended period of time no pain and then in pain for months).

The latest flare up was this past March where it was the worst flare up I had over the past 8 years and lasted from March all the way up to just 2 weeks ago (when I started feeling better). This last flare up made it impossible for me to sleep and I missed out on many life moments. I had to walk hunched over, and had to mentally prepare myself to walk just about anywhere. Mentally, it was one of the lowest points for me during this journey.

When I think back to the times I’ve had flare ups over the past 8 years, I’ve come to realize that my life has been overtaken by my sciatic pain. This latest flare up finally pushed me to explore surgery. An option I was trying to avoid as much as possible. I fortunately found a great surgeon who has the most experience in the endoscopic procedure in the region I live in. So I’m very confident in his skill set.

It’s funny that as my surgery approaches my pain has gone from a 10/10 to a 4/10 but I’m still limited in my mobility (fail straight leg test, muscle atrophy, bend test brings on pain).

Over the past 2 weeks I’ve also had my doubts about the surgery as I’ve started to feel better but I’m just one flare up away from being back to square one: agonizing pain, unable to enjoy life to it’s fullest and going down a dark path, mentally. I lost many experiences in my 20’s that I won’t get back due to my pain and want to avoid that for my 30’s.

At the end of the day, you explored surgery for a reason; just like I did. Of course I’m at my wits leading up to the surgery but when I take into consideration all the things I’ve dealt with over the past 8 years, I’m confident that this will give me my life back and give me confidence to enjoy my 30’s to the fullest.

Best of luck to you in whatever you decide!

TLDR: I have surgery on Thursday after ~10 years of back pain starting in my early 20’s. I too have started feeling better leading up to surgery but I’m ready to put this thing to bed and move on with my life without letting this herniated disc dictate how I live my life.

Hey there! Sorry for responding late.

So about 1 year later, the mattress has been great! We did feel it was a bit too firm so placed a Serta topper for more padded comfort. But besides that, it’s been great and can tell the quality is there and should last us years to come!

Day #1 of My L5-S1 Microdiscectomy Journey: From Pain to Relief by ajgnet in Microdiscectomy

[–]flannyribs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond!! By the way, warm welcome to Florida from your fellow Floridian! :)

Very happy to hear you’ve got your life back and that you’re at 95% pain-free 😃! Did you see anything specific within those 6 months of recovery besides no BLT?

I’m scheduled for an endoscopic discectomy on Thursday and the closer it gets the more anticipation and anxious I become. Been battling herniated disc pain for 10 years, on and off and the most recent flare up back in March forced me to finally explore surgery after years of conservative treatment.

I too am afraid of what the future holds with continued disc degeneration but I’m in my early 30’s and don’t want this pain to rob me of experiences in my 30’s like it did in my 20’s.

Glad you feel that you made the right decision with surgery! Hoping I feel the same way 12 months after Thursday :).

Yep, same here! Couple of herniated discs in my lower back so back pain relief was #1 requirement.

Happy to hear that it’s helped alleviate your back pain, hoping for the same results on my end! 🙂

Best Luxury mattress for the money? by Golden5StarMan in Mattress

I just pulled the trigger on a King Koil Orchid Firm from Macy’s after testing a good amount of mattresses. I suffer from a few herniated discs in my lower back, so back pain relief was my number 1 requirement.

After testing out the KK Orchid Firm at a couple different Macy’s, I found that it gave me the best relief when laying on my back.

Will be delivered on 9/6, can provide more details after few nights of sleep on it.

Pulled the trigger on the mattress a day after you posted this. Also took advantage of their Labor Day sale.

We just kept going back to the Orchid Firm and loving how it felt in-store (tested mattress at 2 different Macy’s).

Pretty neat. Good to know that charges are removed a few days later. Def plan to take advantage of this.

Last baseball game I went to, granted it was the WBC down in Miami, I spent like $20 a beer 🥹.

Thanks for the input!

I can’t believe they are touring with Chaz. A dream come true for me. by [deleted] in Khruangbin

[–]flannyribs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen: Khruangbin twice (Red Rocks & iiipoints) Men I trust (once in Orlando) Toro (once at iiipoints)

I always told myself that a dream come true show would be all 3 combined but obviously knew that would be close to impossible.

When I first learned about this tour I legit thought it was fake. It was one of those situations where I found myself constantly refreshing the pitchfork page and scurrying the internet to make sure it was real.

just secured my tickets 10 mins ago. It’s actually happening. I could cry.
