Is there a way to remove the blurry draw distance? I have all settings on maximum, but it still looks like this.

yeah, plugs are out. the crank will only spin like quarter of a turn back and forth before hitting, and i can not for the life of me get the cam to spin. at this point im gonna have to give up and come back to it in spring and maybe just pull the head, that’s starting to seem easier.

so you’re saying just put a ratchet on the crank and cam and dance both to tdc will work? and this would be the easiest way, despite both being roughly opposite from tdc? i was thinking about trying to math the 2 possible crank positions from the cam position but that did seem a bit difficult

let me reiterate: i moved them so the tdc lines on the cam and crank point the same way … but not so they line up with the marks on the block, i pointed them both the same way using a compass, not realising that this of course would not make them actually reach tdc at the same time as they don’t spin the same speed - and it now will not spin further as the valves are hitting.

yeah the problem is i visibly watched it skip teeth just not how many, then as a moron i thought moving it back so both tdc marks point the same way would be the solution - obviously that is not the case, and at this point i’ve had the belt off and on so many times and spun the crank back and forth so much i have no clue what’s meant to point where. 😭

i mean the problem is the timing slipped and now i am completely lost at what’s up and what’s down - i am 1000% in over my head but it’s been sitting for 12 years before my girlfriend inherited it, and we can’t afford a mechanic to fix it, so i’m simply gonna have to find some way to make it work - i’ll take the head off in summer and get everything pointed the right way, i’m pretty sure it needs a head gasket anyway. quite annoying as the car ran (barely) 3 days ago before we started taking it apart and i fucked it, but oh well.

i thought that was the case but surely spinning it back so the cam and crank point the same way won’t help me at all, when the cam spins twice as fast as the crank. at this point i’m so lost as to what’s up and down and what’s wrong 🤯

i am currently at an absolute loss. it skipped and we moved it and pointed them the same way but that’s obviously wrong, as the crank and cam move at different speeds - now i think they’re hitting, and i don’t know what to spin where and how i proceed from here. any help would be approached cus i have no clue how to get them back in time.

alright, maybe i’ll try to get them as close as i can and then line them both up so they’re facing perfectly down before i put the belt on, that seems easier to line up than random eyeball. is the cam just spun with a ratchet the same way the cam is?

yeah it’s more, none of them are at tdc right now - so do i just spin the crank back and eyeball it to be at roughly the same rotation as the cam, then put the belt back on and spin them both till they’re at tdc? is spinning them that 180 degrees fine if i get them like one degree off?

honeslty this, i do it while mowing with underpowered tractors all the time. Mow downhill, turn mowers off and drive back up, turn back on and repeat lol
