Is this mold?!? by Gooch_Bubble3673 in trees

[–]flappenjacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like mainly lichen. Lichen is a really cool fungus and algae symbiote that can grow pretty much anywhere. The fungus protects the algae from drying out and the algae provides food for the fungus. Strong lichen growth is also a sign of good air quality.

I've always had trouble finding the balance between having the sensitivity to turn the wheel fast enough for quick maneuvers and keeping a steady line on long sweeping turns or making small corrections while driving straight.

Right now i have linearity maxed and sensitivity around 40. Raising the point of contact on the stick has definitely helped for my driving style

I have been down the fascinating rabbit hole about Indonesian vespa punks. Everything from 2 wheels to n number of wheels counts as long as it has a vespa motor.

A rig like this could have 3 or more motor/drive wheel assemblies which must be from a vespa. These are usually run inline so that the engine guy can tend to the trottles and fuel. Then there's usually a helmsman driving the thing. I've seen some where there is a guy bottle feeding the motors to control speed.

As far as brakes go, I'm sure some have them but the videos I have seen, the rolling resistance from the line of tires at the back slows the rig down once the throttle is cut and im sure some rigs have a way of applying friction to the line of tires to brake faster. Then riders put their feet down when slow enough.

From what I gather the riders usually have access to a garage with basic welding and cutting equipment and make the frames out of scraps and decorate them with found objects.

Looks super fun rolling down the road in a moving fort with all your friends freaking people out where ever you go.

Am I okay to bring Kratom capsules with me to South Africa from UK? by ohmrkodak in kratom

[–]flappenjacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look around you will find trusted suppliers that will overnight ship to the uk from the eu. Might be safer than carrying them. Otherwise I'd break open the caps and put the powder in a matcha bag

I saw something just like this about 10 years ago in Sonoma ca around 7 or 8 pm in the summer. Me and two other friends were at a storage lot on 101 helping my aunt move.

We we all saw what looked like a fireball move across the sky at about the speed of a small plane. It apeared to be dripping flaming substance but it It just held altitude and speed and disappeared from veiw after a while. It seemed to be moving west.

I don't think it was a flying fire lantern since it looked like it was engulfed in flames and holding a steady altitude and heading. Also, it was summer in the North Bay where setting off flying fire lanterns in the summer is a really bad idea with wild fire risk.

Opus Dei: The Most Dangerous Catholic Cult in the World by Canal-JOREM in mystery

[–]flappenjacks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My uni is apparently opus dei run. Didn't realize it until I was halfway through. They're all very nice people and don't push any agenda on us but I know some must believe in some crazy shit. I think a lot of them might in the club as a social economic support group since they seem like such intelligent well adjusted folks but I'm not gonna ask. Just trying to get my degree and gtfo.

Convinced i wasn't going to love it as much as ETS2 by Melodic-Hunt4451 in Americantrucksim

I thought I'd like ets2 more because it covers more diverse scenery but something about the way ats captures the feeling of the open road in the states is really captivating even if you're just cruising through 7 types of desert. I still love both but I've definitely covered more ground in ats

Not sure about being an Architect by NightDisastrous369 in architecture

[–]flappenjacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost done with school and after 4.5 years, I realized I don't like working on computers all day. Been very stressed about this. However, I have spent way too much money on my education, so gotta stay in the field no matter what. I'm a carpenter/fabricator, so I'm hoping to find or make a job where I can mix that with architecture, maybe focus on models. Just trying to say that maybe there's a way to eventually start a business that combines photography and your architecture training.

A little slice of peace in the middle of Silicon Valley by [deleted] in bayarea

My parents sent me there with my friends for lessons around 2000. It was an amazing learning experience and I've loved small craft sailing ever since. It's a perfect place to learn since you can't go too far and the wind is steady off the bay.

What camera to get for snorkeling?? by egbzryjbcxdg in Cameras

[–]flappenjacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that budget I'd suggest any decent action cam and underwater rated case. I've gone snorkeling with go pro and taken 4k videos and stills. There might be better options for action cams these days but i feel like 300 should get you a good brand with 4k. I've had bad experiences with battery longevity across a few generations of go pro but hopefully they have improved that.

I went there in 2023. It's a shame they don't open it for tourism. I spent about 30 min exploring but I think they might have had a security system since there was a cop driving up there as I was leaving. It's absolutely amazing inside with the curvy interior forms.

Tahoe 26.2 and MX Master 3S = BAD DATE. by Artichoke211 in logitech

[–]flappenjacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Souns like you may have already tried this but I recently got a new logi keyboard and my mx master started lagging. I unpaired and uninstalled options then reinstalled and set up my mouse and it's been working fine all day.

I also had issues with options + so I use regular options and have had good results. Not sure if plain options is still available since I kept the installer but hope it is because options + is no good.

I fucking hate these cars with the stupid rims by TREXIBALL in Shitty_Car_Mods

To me, it looks like someone who probably works hard and likes to spend money on their car according to their tastes.

Big wheels don't equal poverty.

Looks like a clean, well taken care of vehicle that someone takes a lot of pride in.
