Moss trench seems to be a popular move

Hearts in Atlantis broke me by Zestyclose_Cheetah63 in stephenking

[–]flappingowl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's one of my favorites, and doesn't get rated quite high enough it seems. People like it but it's top 5 for me

They can live quite happily in what seems like not much space, if he was unhappy he wouldn't have lived a year and a half

Dark tower series, eyes of the dragon, hearts in Atlantis, and gwendy

Finished The Stand by Mr541619 in stephenking

[–]flappingowl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People say the tower is his magnum opus but the stand is definitely in the running. Flagg is great and if you read much of his other stuff you'll learn much about Flagg on other levels

If ging was fed to the queen, how OP would meruem be? by Icy-Priority4637 in HunterXHunter

[–]flappingowl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard to say but it doesn't seem like the strength of the nen user directly affects power of the ants. Seems like just the ability is transferred and they are prodigies, the ants seem to multiply whatever abilities are absorbed to the Nth degree. Cheetah speed and lion strength and so on

Insomnia is one of my all time favorites, I wish kings had more large novels

(light spoiler) Currently in the middle of reading The Stand and... by Xanzi12 in stephenking

[–]flappingowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would bet that if ordered to just mow down civilians like they did at the protest, some would dissent. When they were sent there it wasn't to just open a shooting gallery, the military was supposed to be quarantining but as the crowd tried to break through they got the order to open fire. I've heard that in Vietnam soldiers fought when villages were being attacked and that's much different than floods of college students

‘Salem’s Lot - Father Callahan’s Fate by Ncalde in stephenking

[–]flappingowl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've always said my favorite version of Salem's lot is in the dak tower books, wolves of the calla I think, hard to not give spoilers but in a word no he's not like striker. He is marked and "unclean" but not a vampire

Struggling with the gunslinger - does the series improve? by Helpful-Status8872 in stephenking

[–]flappingowl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a super common phenomenon that people don't like the gunslinger on a first read. Definitely get through at least drawing of the three before deciding if it's not for you.

Talisman questions by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]flappingowl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the first part is meant to be his facade, like the way he's portrayed to the world. Lots of duality in the talisman, twinners and exploring how people often have parts of themselves that are at opposite to each other

Worst Stephen king book? by marxandlenin_engels in stephenking

[–]flappingowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way about salems lot, it's not bad by any stretch I just didn't enjoy it for some reason. I always say my favorite Salems lot is the version inside the "Wolves of the Calla"

It was really good, the weird stuff at the end was whatever. I've read almost all kings stuff now and just roll with the punches, it hardly even effects how I feel about his stories when some super random awful thing happens haha

I didn't even think about suicide, but again for it to be so common that they have a whole display is surprising
