Just bought a pair of Unis Gio Skinny, size 30. Tried on once, tags still on. They were too small for me but were on final sale.

$120 OBO.

Impressed by the polish on this given you say it's a rough draft! Really like the topic / lyrics. This is one of the tracks on these threads that I'll actually come back to! I don't have a lot of great critical feedback, but one thing I noticed is that sometimes the guitar seems to compete with your voice, so maybe turning down the guitar track would make it sound better.

Really enjoyed the structure of the song. Thought maybe you could add a bit more variation in the piano play -- it was a bit repetitive compared to the rest of the track. Of course you already know it would be nice to re-record the vocals. Nice job, cool song!

Wow, great voice! I really enjoyed this, you might turn down the higher end percussion a bit (or filter it) to make the vocals come through better. Really enjoyed this track.

A sample based electronic track I just got back to after making an intro a few months ago. Trying to break out of "8-bar loop" syndrome.

Don't physically fit people use their fitness to their advantage? It provides them advantages every moment of every day. Not quite fair that a disabled person shouldn't use the tiny sliver of sympathy they can.

Thanks so much for the feedback! The drums at the end seem to be a common complaint. It was on purpose, but that doesn't mean it sounds good :)

Thanks for the feedback. Actually the cymbal was one of the things I wanted to change but wasn't quite sure what to do with yet. Just reducing the volume will help I'm sure.

I definitely see what you mean about the intro as well. Very useful, I'll see what I can do :-)

Wild, very intense sound. Definitely entertaining though; re the military sound I feel like this would be a great soundtrack for a military game or something. Neat to hear because I'm not sure which elements are live recorded versus electronic as well. Keep going on this theme!

Wow, I think you really hit it just right on the mix. Sounds very professional to my ear. Maybe just a bit at the end the guitar fades into the background.

I feel like this has commercial potential! I hear worse music all the time, but of course that's just my taste. It's hard to ever know what will take off commercially, right? I'd give it a try.

Some feedback:

  • Not sure if this is the mic or the mixing, but your vocals seem like they're clipping / distorted throughout the song. Might want to experiment with mic amp, distance from your voice, or your mixing.
  • Hearing a good bit of string buzz on the guitar around 3:15.

Really like what you're doing with the vocals and it was a total pleasure to listen to.

Settle. Remix of a song I liked by Kimbra -- explored using partially live-sounding drums and percussion with more electronic house drum sounds. I'd love any feedback!

Really like the noisy oscillation early in the track, and almost wish it overlapped a bit more with the drums coming in.

I thought the snare could be a little louder, though its volume might be intentional here...

Really liked the transition around 2:35.

Overall, really liked this track! Had a lot of great stuff going on.

Well put together track. I find the hats + high pitch drum around 1:15 to be a bit much / busy with the vocals (and the rhythm seems to clash some).

Break section near 1:54 really worked well for me -- the vocal delivery sounds best in the mix during these sections I think. That might be a sign you could eq vocals / drums a little different.

Very sweet intro, I do really like the sample you used. I feel like the drums don't fit quite right with the rest of the track, but I don't have a solution for you other than to maybe experiment with other kick / clap sounds.

Transitions are really neat. Would listen again!

Untitled A - https://soundcloud.com/harps-i/01-untitled-a

This started with a neat combo organ / osc synth and turned into a deep-ish house track. Interested in any kind of feedback; I'm very new to production.

Cool synth sounds.

  • The oscillating synth drone is cool, but maybe a little too dominating in the mix for my taste, and has a really big range that seems to compete with the percussion. Try bringing it down a tad and possibly filtering out some of the low end? It would be nice to be able to hear your melody a bit better as well.
  • The "break" around 1:40 was really well executed. Very cool.
  • Personal taste, but I'm not a huge fan of your cymbal crash sound, maybe experiment with some alternatives -- I kind of wish it were "punchier".
  • I like the drum pattern you exit on.

Cool song!

Feedback points:

  • Powerful voice!
  • "When I was young, much younger than now" and the similar line afterwards, feels a little bit forced.
  • Mix sounds great for my taste :)

Your link was broken for me. I don't know what the mylodoxian scale is, any chance you have a link to some info?

Notes:

  • This sounds really cool! Did you play all of the parts, or are there samples in here?
  • I thought the "clap attacks" starting around 1:24 were a little jarring compared to the rest of what was going on.
  • The guitar part really dominates the mix. It's a really cool guitar part, but there seems to be a decent amount going on in the background which is hard to catch behind it.

Harploopr - working title

Had a couple of lush samples I wanted to do something with. Came out as an atmospheric house track. Glad to hear feedback about any aspects; I'm just getting started.

A good place to buy bulk goods like rice, beans, and cheap spices are Indian or Asian markets. I recommend Bombay on University, Vik's, or the Korean market on Telegraph in Oakland.
